I agree. Ch5 should leave it where it is for now, because as you say it boosts a weak slot. Also didn't Highland Emergency get promoted to 8pm then IIRC it didn't improve on its 7.30pm audience. Ch5 could do with more 7.30pm hits. I just hope they don't overexpose stuff like HDTDI, Highland and Cowboy Builders.

I thought it would have went up since Tues nights episode! I suppose the weak lead in won't have helped but surely Above Suspicion should be getting more than this! Was it not an average of 6m last year? That's just a guess from what i've read on previous threads but to be beaten by Raiders of the Lost Ark. . .

my figures don't include ITV1 HD, so that will boost the figures somewhat

I presume BBC2 is without HD too?

If they don't have HD then rattings are really not that bad for a Wednesday night.

4.62m is a pretty decent rating for Raiders of the Lost Arc, which is now 30 years old. Perhaps the Beeb should look at showing some of their newer film premieres in this slot. I'm guessing Waterloo Road will be back after this run of Indiana Jones movies though.

I know, I was just interested in the stargazer figures which were over 3m the last few days including HD

Wow that's excellent! The other showings in the top 10 all got 100,000 so over a million viewings in 3 days!

I personally felt that A.B was a bit flat and boring, which was surprising because the the other series was very good..I suppose I was expecting better things from it, so I can see why it lost some of it audience.

I also though Silent Witness was a bit ropey too...it just felt so depressing, Nikki mopping around like some stroppy teenager...she really annoyed me on these two episodes!

I see digital spy has their ratings up now.

As a Scottish viewer I'm beginning to worry about Taggart next week. As you'll probably know all the Scottish viewers have seen these Taggart episodes which start on Tuesday.
I think it has been one of the best series in years!

It is really gripping this time around and there are twists that you would never expect where as the last few series have been mediocre i think. I just think ITV have been really stupid to put it in the Tuesday flop zone. I know its a Scottish programme but they should have given it a better slot. I doubt it'll get more than 3.5m with the second episode of Silent Witness on.

Good night for BBC1. I think it's a good idea to show more movies at 8pm on Wednesdays, because they seem to rate quite well. As expected ITV were below par again. The momemtum was lost from AS and a repeat of The Unforgettable was awful scheduling really. Something like YBF would have got at least 1m more. Emmerdale again not including HD or tapechecked.

Quite a decent night for Ch4 there. At least F&F is stabilising now and I reckon it has the potential to come back if it's tweaked a bit and given better slots. The Fattest Man performed well too and looking at some of the stuff for the rest of January I don't think Ch4 will suffer that much from the loss of CBB, because a lot of the new shows actually look half decent with the potential of 2m+. Will be interesting to see if they have success though.

Another 1m+ figure in the 7.30pm slot for Ch5, but below par for NCIS. If it opens with only 1.7m against AS, then it will struggle even more with a Midsomer head start next week. I don't know why it wasn't just left on Fridays where it was building up an audience to around 2.5m every week. I know it timeshifts more nowadays, but it just seemed better on Fridays.

Good night for BBC1 for what was an extremely lazy schedule, in all honesty. Not sure if Above Suspicion will get a recommision - I wish they'd have put it on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday myself, or 2 x 90 on Sunday and Monday. (the Marple episode would have took the 8pm slot last night)

Not bad for the Indiana Jones showing actually. I still think its a poor effort, mind you - and so odd that they're happy to show primetime movies now, but seemed so averse to it over Christmas. Also a shockingly good rating for Rip-Off Britain in that pretty dead 7.30 slot.

Sad to see Above Suspicion falling away on Tuesday and Wednesday - the competitions not helped, but clearly viewers can't be that into it as it did fine on Monday.

Another good night for BBC Two - Stargazing has been great and I'd imagine it'll return for the next astrological event, but I do wonder whether there's a slight novelty value thats worn off since Monday.

For Channel 4, well the Fattest Man documentary did well, but they surely can't wait for Famous and Fearless to be over. The ratings thankfully haven't sunk to totally humiliating levels, but its still very poor considering the time, money and effort that seemed to go in.

The highest rated show of the night being a daytime show, there. The schedule on BBC1 last night reminded me of when they first moved the news to ten, a decade ago now, and they still had a load of fifty minute dramas, so shows like Top of the Pops, Holiday and Watchdog were often either extended by five or ten minutes, or indeed truncated by five or ten minutes, and you'd get programmes starting at 7.55 or 9.10, which was a bit of fun for a few months. There was one Friday where both Watchdog and Pops were cut to 25 minutes so they could cram in Apollo 13 from 7.50 to 10pm.

The Beeb used to show films on a Wednesday night quite a lot in the nineties usually in September or January, I remember someone writing to the Radio Times in 1993 complaining that they hadn't shown a film in a pre-watershed slot all summer and the day the schools went back they showed, I think, Back To The Future ending at 9pm and they had to battle to get their kids to bed. Not many films that can run in slots like that these days, maybe they could give the Pixar films a run-out at 7.30 or something.

for me that's what ruined an otherwise decent Xmas line up from ITV & BBC. I know films don't get the ratings they used to, but to barely have any film showing between 7pm and 10pm was a joke

I know ITV is hindered slightly by the NAT split, but surely there's room for midweek film offerings. Certainly it'd be a better option that the current Saturday 9.15pm (or later slot), which does nothing in ratings terms

I think in the summer ITV1 could scrap the 8.30 Coronation St on Fridays, it seems to be the lowest rating of all the episodes, and show action films in this slot like they used to 10 years ago. It would also negate the need to show reality shows that would never see the light of day at any time other time of the year at 9.00.

I know it was mentioned here as speculation a couple of days ago, but The Sun confirmed there would be a second series of 71 Degrees North in todays paper

I had a feeling it would be brought back. I think they'll see if it can expand on its 3.5 million audience, which while not a success, isn't a flop. However, I very much doubt Marco will be making a return as I think he achieved one of the lowest ratings ever for a peak time ITV1 show of 2 million.
Out of interest does anyone know what the lowest rating ITV1 programme ever is in peaktime? My bet is on the 2009 UEFA Super Cup final, which averaged at 1.8 million.

I remember the one off drama Stockwell getting something like 1.4m on a Wednesday at 9pm a couple of years ago.

Oh and also just remembered..the double bill of Al Murray and Moving Wallpaper fell to around 1m against Children In need.

After some decent ratings for Hollyoaks.. the producer has stepped down.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s1...-producer.html

I wouldn't be too surprised if he ends up at Eastenders or Emmerdale after a short period in his new background roll. That's what happened to Bryan Kirkwood (current Eastenders producer) when he left Hollyoaks.

Hollyoaks is still in a precarious state though and this could spell more turmoil.
