It's won me over. I was laughing out loud tonight.

It's a shame about Above Suspicion's ratings. I was hoping they'd be even lower. I'm glad viewers are tiring of Lynda La Plante/Titchmarsh/Marchal's variations on a theme, though.

It'll probably be back in some form or another, although perhaps with a different title. Prime Above Suspicion and Retribution?

should be an intersting rating for EastEnders tomorrow, with mentions on both BBC & ITV evening news, EE has never had so much publicity.

follow that up with a good episode of Come Fly With Me, and BBC 1 could be on to something.

I doubt it will make that much differance tbh

I still don't see what all the fuss is about
surely there's is more important news other then a soap thats not really.

i wasn't blaming you
I just think there is more important things to Cover (The Floods In Aus,Price of Fuel,Swine Flu ) would be a start.

Personally im sick of Hearing about EastEnders all over the news, the scummy Papers and Radio

God knows.
As usual people are making such a big deal out of something so small.

So what they shown a baby swap i mean it's not like Ronnie was that normal anyway
It was clear she had a screw loose anyway

Don't like it then don't watch it is my motto
and if you don't watch then you have no right to complain

yes with better writing they may have gotten away with it, but the show lacked that.

the cuts didnt help matters, they also got the publicity ball rolling.

I dunno The writing and acting has been brilliant however i did notice where scenes had been cut (new years eve/day)

Im actually enjoying EastEnders right now and don't think i've enjoyed it as much as i am since Mad May but then again I like the Gritty storylines

Oh come off it - defending your favourite programme once again!

It's the fact that instead of just doing the cot death storyline, which I think most people would agree would be a worthy storyline to raise awarenss etc. they had to go that bit to far and really over sesationalise everything with the baby swap - which is just not very sensitive in one could argue, one of the most sensitive issues you could do.

And your motto is rubbish - i'm a normal viewer of EE, watch most nights, but this storyline is just not very nice, gritty is one word, but this is just downright untasteful. Based on your motto if i don't like it the i shouldn't watch? But then if i didn't watch i'd have no right to complain?

Also it's a fair thing to be on the news - it's a story of interest. You say they should cover, swine flu, floods etc - they did - it isn't as though this story is taking up some really other important news about the price of petrol for the 4th day in a row!

According to Den of Geek, Torchwood: The New World will air on July 1st on both BBC One and Starz. It should do well on Fridays as drama tend to perform quite well on Fridays.

Nearly 6000 complaints is a lot for one soap storyline and is worth a place in the news bulletins but when The Sun has it splashed across their front page with a tiny piece on the real life Joanna Yeates murder at the side then it becomes an issue.

overnights
Soaps
Emmers - 7.72m
EE - 9.87m, down on previous days, but still strong figures. The media storm is ridiculously overblown
Emmers - 8.12m (picked up after Lisa's ordeal)
Corrie - 9.24m (best in a while for that slot?)
HO - 1.26m

selected other channels
CFWM - 6.49m
No Going Out - 4.75m
Martin Clunes - 3.63m
Edwardian Farm - 1.97m
Sinking of.... - 2.93m
Film: SWAT - 1.22m

E4
BBT - 628k
HIMYM - 320k

NB: ITV1 not including HD figures, not sure about BBC2

Good for EE, those fanatics predicting 12 million because of the furore obviosuly have no clue. Decenet hold up for CLWM. Good figure for Oaks seems to be holding up well this week

We watched it in a two hour block- sans ads, next time, previously, credits - last night and thought it was pretty good.

Surprised it dropped off after the first episode.

Wow - great figures for the BBC1 comedy hour - dented, one suspects, a little by BBC2's decently performing drama.

Lee Mack will be delighted with a likely official rating of 5m, must be NGO's best ever ratings by a distance. And for a show that was axed, to be brought back only (we were told) as a 10.35pm post-Ross slot filler.

Decent soap figures all around. I thought EE may be over 10m, but still a strong figure. ITV's soaps will add around 0.3/0.4m inc HD and Emmerdale deserves another strong figure for what was an amazing 2nd episode. I would say next weeks are likely to peak at 9m. Corrie should also get a slight boost next week with the Tracy Barlow reveal.

In general ITV seems to have really underperformed so far this year though. Primeval, Above Suspicion & The Cube all pulling in below par audiences and I thought Clunes would be slightly higher.

BBC1's comedy double performed great-CFWM's audience found its new slot, but it will probably dip next week when viewers realise there's a 2nd primetime showing in one week. NGO really benefited from the strong lead in too.

channel 4's alternative olympic show took one hell of a beating in the ratings last night.
what worries me is that who in their right mind thought that show would be a winner.
i would question their judgement and competence to do what they are paid to do if so.

According to DS, 10.5m watched EE last night. The controversy isn't doing the show any harm at all. The BBC will be loving it.

Quote:
“EastEnders attracted an audience above the 10m mark for the third time in a week last night as the controversy surrounding its baby swap storyline intensified.

At 7.30pm, 10.50m (42.5%) tuned into BBC One for the latest developments in Walford, while a further 917k (4.1%) watched BBC Three's repeat screening at 10pm.”
