I was hoping 3.5 . I kinda feel sorry for ITV splashing out on adrain chiles - was hoping he would have some kind of half decent, hit show by the time his contract expires!

Then of course there is the BBC daytime schedule, where Weakest Link still rates well, 100 years after it started!”

The pilot of CFWM was weak, but luckily it started late on Christmas Day when most would be too merry at that point to really notice. It's picked up since then and viewers seem to be liking it more. I expect a recommission within days.

The Magicians was poor but has been fortunate in being scheduled opposite Primeval, a previously cancelled drama that has struggled to make any impact at all since it came back. Even you yourself admitted it had got "lost" in the schedules and two episodes in one weekend was clearly too much. I wouldn't put the apparent ratings success of The Magicians down to anything other than that.

As for Indiana, it might have been old but it's also a classic. I don't really see it that differently to ITV's obsession with James Bond and Harry Potter. At least the BBC are giving us a much needed break from POTC.

The Weakest Link doesn't really rate that great to be honest, so I don't buy that one. It regularly loses its timeslot to C4 and sometimes even BBC Two when there are new episodes of Escape To The Country on.

The Weakest Link in fairness has not been going 100 years.

They should re-name it "Come Back After The Break"

If it has Anne Robinsons facelifts are extremely effective.

Perhaps the reason why "crap" rates well on the BBC is that maybe, just maybe, there are people in the country who like the show but dont all flock to DS to post their opinion.

Yes you are in a better position than me presumably having watched it-"To Be Revealed After The Break" it is then.

I can see ITV going for that.

This is true as well. DS is notoriously hard to please and sometimes isn't a good barometer for popular opinion at all.

There is also The Vanessa Show of course tomorrow. Was it me or has there been adverts for it on either ITV1 or C4? Either way will be interesting to see if C5 having another go at more new daytime content works out for them or not. Going by The Wright Stuff ratings anything around 250k and/or 5% share would be a good start?

If the banner headline is anything to go by, ITV are approx 34 years too late to get Angela Rippon in her prime.

Well the first show would be about the same - and a guest soon pads out the second, and tonight's second show could have done with being an hour long really considering they were milking the public vote yet again.

I think it's also the way we do ads in this country which makes it worse. The US and Australia who are used to more ads usually have a structure where they basically fade out and fade in to the programme, rather than having the hosts sign off and welcome you back and all the preamble that goes with it. Perhaps if they just rudely cut away from the show (at appropriate points of course) the ads would slip in more seemlessly.

P.S. How annoying were those sponsorship bumpers for Macleans - worst I've seen in quite some time.

Quite liking "That Sunday Night Show!" if i'm honest. A few laughs and some good guests. I think it'll be hard to get funny guests every week though.

Seems like i've seen this type of show before...."have i got news for you" anyone?

I don't recall seeing any during the little I've watched of ITV1 and Channel 4 this week, but there might have been. Good to see them promoting it. I have seen the ads on C5 itself and they were pretty good.

C5 are very savvy in syncing the start time with Casualty finishing on BBC One. As long as they continue this strategy, CSI: NY should continue to thrive because it's a fab show.

Yeah it is!

A lot of the time when there's lots of promo's for it and there's a big build up it turns out to be crap.

I was hoping that it would be good, with all the bad press Adrian Chiles gets he deserves a sucessful programme.

( hides before i get attacked with that comment )

Seriously if this programme goes well, he might get some good press and you never know it might rub off on Daybreak a bit.

What are people expecting for it? I think this type of sho has a bit of a limit to it - anywear near a Friday Night with JR rating would be good I think.

Also used all the ad's on DOI it seems - all promo's.

What's that - two shows within a week on ITV1 people are praising!

A shame that usually for sponsorship reasons ITV still run ad breaks even when they've got no ads to sell.

Especially the pace Philip Schofield says it.

How do the ads quota work after 10pm?

AFAIK I don't think That Sunday Nigh Show had a sponsor.
I suppose they want to show the promo's.

If a show has no sponsor and like tonight no Ad's can they just not have an Ad break - anyone know?

ITV can have a maximum of 40 minutes of adverts between 6-11pm per night. As ITV used up all those minutes earlier in the night during their higher rated programmes such as DOI and WaH, there were no ads left for That Sunday Night Show.

There were no sponsors for That Sunday Night Show but they still went for a break to show 3 promos for ITV shows. It wasn't the best timed break either as it was just when the news was starting on BBC1. They would've been better off having no break and having a couple of minutes more of programme content. As for the programme itself, there's a gap in the market for a show like this on Sunday nights and I thought it was quite good. I think the average prediction on the RPG was 2.7m.

It's made by Avalon who also represent a lot of comedy talent, so I expect to see Frank Skinner etc in future weeks.

The time slot has a low ceiling ratings wise, and some people will focus on the lead in declaring it a flop, even if it isn't.

The 10 O Clock show looks good, its the type of TV I watch, just taking the mick out of things. That's why I love Family Guy and Russell Howard's Good News.

Thanks.

As there weren't any sponsor ads they shouldn't have bothered with the breaks.
