BBC1 just promoted "Winners Weekend" after The Apprentice - have they been reading Robbie's posts?

Not a bad patch in terms of ratings but in quality. Ive found it very tough to watch in the last couple of months and a lot of others seem to feel the same.

Ah right - I've seen a lot of criticism in the soap thread regarding EastEnders. I guess if it's going to go through a bad patch maybe autumn is a better time to do it while a bigger audience is there!

I wouldn't take any notice of criticism in the soaps forum, comments on there have no connection to ratings. If they did EastEnders would normally be on 20m and Coronation Street 1m.

Surely the fact that the posters in the soaps forum, the same forum you say universally adores Eastenders, are criticising the quality should suggest there is something wrong.
Whille the quality is not to the best standards in EastEnders right now i've seen worse There is quite a lot of threads 'EastEnders is boring' 'Bryan Kirkwood Needs to sack' ect There's also quite a few new posters starting threads too. Last nights episode seemed like a normal episode in the middle of August not a episode just over a week before xmas |

I see the BBC are promoting their big weekend of shows as "Winners Weekend". Good to see them making a big deal out of what will be a very good weekend of shows..

![]() ![]() As the credits rolled on The Apprentice and the continuity said "all part of BBC1's big weekend...", I thought surely they aren't going to air a "Big Weekend of Winners" trail as I told them to a fortnight ago? And lo and behold... Well done BBC1 bosses for finally taking notice of my posts. ![]() The finals of The Apprentice and Strictly, alongside the still-important SPOTY, beats hands down ITV's "bloated weekend" even if it won't outrate it. |

Is this yet another format that involves members of the public being chucked into water?

I have seen impressions from the pilot and they are not good at all. By all accounts it is a dire format that is trying to shoe horn total wipeout into a studio on the cheap.

A giant hare?
I wonder what the decision making processes involve at the BBC meetings where entertainment acquisition/commission is concerned. I just have this image of Alan Partridge type characters pitching endless ridiculous sounding formats. I suppose Total Wipeout has been a hit, but i dont know why the Beeb just dont go the whole hog and recommission Its a Knockout rather than just skirting around the edges. |

The Biggest Loser is well timed for the post Christmas "I'm so fat" and New Years resolution audience. However like most gym subscriptions, they will probably turn up once and never return.

Thanks Mike. Here's some more ratings from yesterday (with shares etc):
BBC1 (inc. HD) 06:00- Breakfast 1.7m (37.4%) 18:00- BBC News at Six 4.8m (24.3%) 18:30- Regional News and Weather 6.3m (30.1%) 19:00- The One Show 4.61m (21.2%) 19:30- Dig 1940 4.52m (20.8%) 20:00- Jimmy's Food Factory 3.65m (15.9%) 20:30- Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers 3.55m (14.6%) 21:00- The Apprentice 7.91m (30.3%) 22:00- BBC News at Ten 4.7m (21.4%) 22:25- Regional News and Weather 4.4m (23.7%) 22:45- Film 2010 with Claudia Winkleman 1.5m (11.5%) BBC2 17:15- The Hairy Bikers' Cook Off 1.4m (8.9%) 18:00- Celebrity Eggheads 2.4m (12.2%) 18:30- Strictly Come Dancing - It Takes Two 2.7m (13.0%) 19:00- Escape to the Country 1.9m (8.6%) 20:00- Edwardian Farm 2.7m (11.3%) 21:00- Ancient Worlds 1.3m (5.1%) 22:00- The Apprentice: You're Fired 3.9m (17.9%) 22:30- Newsnight 1.2m (8.3%) ITV1 (inc. HD) 06:00- Daybreak 0.8m (20.1%) 08:30- Lorraine 1.2m (22.0%) 18:30- ITV News & Weather 4.0m (19.2%) 19:00- Emmerdale 7.7m (35.4%) 19:30- The Lakes 3.8m (17.4%) 20:00- A Touch of Frost 3.4m (13.5%) 22:00- ITV News at Ten & Weather 2.5m (11.6%) C4 (inc C4 + 1) 18:00- The Simpsons 2.1m (9.0%) 18:30- Hollyoaks 1.2m (5.0%) 19:00- Channel 4 News 0.9m (4.0%) 20:00- The Million Pound Drop Live 2.3m (9.0%) 21:00- Grand Designs 1.9m (6.5%) Channel 5 17:00- Five News 0.8m (5.5%) 17:30- Neighbours 1.37m (8.3%) 18:00- Home and Away 0.87m (4.5%) 18:30- Live From Studio Five 0.3m (1.4%) 19:00- Five News at 7 0.2m (1.1%) 19:30- Europa League Football 2.5m (10.4%) --------------------------------------------------------- A series high for The Apprentice, as expected given the pretty weak competition. Also a fantastic rating for You're Fired on BBC2. I expect the final on Sunday will rate slightly lower than last year's final to match the trend so far this series but it could make up the difference by timeshift. Despite the weak competition, though, not much of a boost for BBC1's 8-9pm hour. ATOF slightly up from Tuesday but considering how well it's repeated in the past, still not good enough. Million Pound Drop started its new series well, pretty on par with the last series. Will be interesting to see how it holds up tonight against though competition. Good rating for the football on Five. |
