Some news from Broadcast regarding the BBC iPlayer.
The fact that Doctor Who jumped round the schedule probably explained why it got such record figures on the iPlayer. And when you look at the ratings for each episode along with iPlayer ratings, the averages are similar to what the Tennant era was getting in 2008
Quote:
“Doctor Who was the most-watched programme on the BBC iPlayer in 2010, a year that saw the catch-up service exceed a record-breaking 1.3bn requests of TV and radio shows.
The corporation’s video on demand service also reported a record high of 141m streams of programmes throughout November, with each month of the year seeing at least 100m plays of catch-up content. Overall use of the iPlayer is up by 32% year-on-year.
Doctor Who – The Eleventh hour was the most requested show with 2.2m plays, followed by the opening episodes of Top Gear’s 15th series and BBC1’s new drama adaptation of Sherlock.”
