Christmas Day Betting
1/5 - EastEnders (BBC1, 20:00)
6/1 - The Royle Family (BBC1, 21:00)
8/1 - Doctor Who (BBC1, 18:00)
11/1 - Coronation Street (ITV1, 19:00)
12/1 - Come Fly With Me (BBC1, 22:00)

16/1 - Emmerdale (ITV1, 18:00)
33/1 - Top Gear (BBC2, 19:00)
40/1 - BBC News (BBC1, 22:30)
40/1 - The Queen (BBC1/ITV1, 15:00)
66/1 - The One Ronnie (BBC1, 17:10)
66/1 - Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1, 19:00)
100/1 - Top of the Pops (BBC1, 14:00)

Some strange betting there. I've removed anything that's not airing on Xmas Day.
Well, in my view, they've got the top five right and in the right order too. But I expect SCD to finish 6th ahead of EmFm in 7th.

Hmmm,

how about taking the 40/1 and then starting a rumour that She's going to announce that Charles gets the job with immediate effect.

BBC2 is having, yet again, a really good time of it ratings wise. It seems to happen every year that for months they put out new programming that struggles to get 2m then air a load of classic/nostalgic comedy at Christmas and it gets 3m. I would expect another set of good ratings tonight for the Ronnie Corbett programming.

Also, a very good, potentially job saving, rating for Chris Moyles' quiz night there. On Mondays he was getting around 1.1m/1.2m with +1 and last night got a much healthier 1.8m.

Those odds are pretty rubbish now. You could have got Eastenders at 4/7 a couple of weeks ago. Royle Family and Doctor Who are worth a couple of quid though.

Has anyone got any daytime ratings for yesterday? in particular Only Fools and Horses

Some multichannel ratings for yesterday:

E4 (inc. +1)
21:00- Ugly Betty: 983k
22:00- Ugly Betty: 1.16m

Sky1
21:00- Little Crackers: 266,500 (1.1%)
21:15- Little Crackers: 242,200 (1%)
21:30- Louie Spence’s Showbusiness Christmas: 177,100 (0.7%)

Sources: Broadcast, C4Sales
------------------
Excellent night for BBC3, that's a very strong rating for Armageddon. And Ugly Betty finished on a high note for E4. Poor for Showbusiness on Sky1.
A bit of a Christmas bonus for E4 there - and absolutely no surprise Louie Spence flopped as usual for Sky1.

No surprise for Louis Spence, PDS didn't exactly light the world on fire despite all the hype they generated themselves

ITV1 (inc. HD)19:00- Countrywise Winter Special: 5.7m (24.5%)
21:00- The Comedy Annual 2010: 3.4m (13.8%)
22:00- ITV News at Ten & Weather: 2.6m (11.8%)
Very good retention by the ITV News at 10. Only lost 800k viewers from The Comedy Annual. And Countrywise did well too. Might help boost it for whenever the next series returns in the Eastenders filler slot. It's certainly one of ITV's better rating fillers

Channel 5 (inc. HD)
17:00- Five News: 1.0m (6.3%)
18:25- Live From Studio Five: 0.3m (1.2%)
19:00- Five News at 7: 0.4m (1.5%)
Very good for 5pm again. Kept some Monday momentum? And not bad at 7pm (by 7pm standards) even beating Studio Five

)E4 (inc. +1)
21:00- Ugly Betty: 983k
22:00- Ugly Betty: 1.16m
Nice the ratings picked up for the final shows. And the double probably means the penultimate episode got more than it would have on a 'stand alone' basis on a separate night

Some multichannel ratings for yesterday:

BBC3
20:00- Armageddon: 1.35m (5.5%)
* slot average: 509,100 (2.16%)
22:30- Russell Howard’s Good News: 781,600 (3.8%)

E4 (inc. +1)
21:00- Ugly Betty: 983k
22:00- Ugly Betty: 1.16m

Film4 (inc. +1)
19:05- The Seeker: The Dark is Rising: 394k
21:00- The Others: 410k

ITV2
20:00- This is JLS: 364,400 (1.5%)
21:00- The Illusionist: 424,600 (1.9%)

More4 (inc. +1)
19:55- A Million Pound Place in the Sun: 273k

Sky1
21:00- Little Crackers: 266,500 (1.1%)
21:15- Little Crackers: 242,200 (1%)
21:30- Louie Spence’s Showbusiness Christmas: 177,100 (0.7%)
Those BBC Three and E4 numbers are probably the most impressive of the night. Big movies do great business at this time of year and I notice BBC Three are promoting a season of Pixar movies already. They took a re-airing of almost all BBC One's movies last year IIRC.

Very dull night otherwise across the main channels - Countrywise did well for ITV1 I suppose. C4 is getting reasonable numbers by trotting out its food programming, while BBC Two always prospers by gorging on nostalgia at this time of year.

1/5 - EastEnders (BBC1, 20:00)
6/1 - The Royle Family (BBC1, 21:00)
8/1 - Doctor Who (BBC1, 18:00)
11/1 - Coronation Street (ITV1, 19:00)
12/1 - Come Fly With Me (BBC1, 22:00)
16/1 - Emmerdale (ITV1, 18:00)
33/1 - Top Gear (BBC2, 19:00)
40/1 - BBC News (BBC1, 22:30)
40/1 - The Queen (BBC1/ITV1, 15:00)
66/1 - The One Ronnie (BBC1, 17:10)
66/1 - Strictly Come Dancing (BBC1, 19:00)
100/1 - Top of the Pops (BBC1, 14:00)

Some strange betting there. I've removed anything that's not airing on Xmas Day.
The order further down is certainly a bit funny. Beyond the obvious, if I had to throw a quid at something, I'd take a punt on The One Ronnie. I'm not expecting anything too special - think I predicted 8 million - but its probably the least predictable of Christmas Day's offerings. Also, 11/1 is decent for Corrie, considering the form its in at the moment.

Piss poor programmes = piss poor ratings.

BBC1 cocked up with its Wednesday food hour. Two shows that could have pulled 5m plus in the Weds 7.30 slot over 16 weeks have both underperformed by being shown back to back in the tougher 8pm hour over just 8 weeks. It's too much I guess for even the most hardened foodie.

Still, ITV's big comedy double-bill () couldn't take advantage. Although Victoria Wood did - having sat on the shelf for a few years, that's the second consecutive year BBC2 has aired the 2000 xmas special and to big numbers both times.

The Nativity is the surprise result for me so far this Christmas. I really expected this minority interest programming to flop in primetime - sub-3m by now. But it has held up rather well!
Agree here-perfect fillers against soaps but slot leaders no way.

Hope rzt doesn't mind me posting these ITV1 breakdowns.

Countrywise
1900 - 5.46m
1905 - 5.50m
1910 - 5.35m
1915 - 5.47m
1920 - 5.68m
1925 - 5.81m

It's Paul Burling
2000 - 4.54m
2005 - 4.35m
2010 - 4.16m
2015 - 3.50m
2020 - 3.54m
2025 - 3.54m
2030 - 3.23m
2035 - 3.31m
2040 - 3.33m
2045 - 3.10m
2050 - 3.22m
2055 - 3.03m

The first 15 minutes saved Burling from a low 3m, but no further shows for him I imagine.

I was thinking earlier that maybe the BBC should have used a classic comedy to fill the 10:45pm slot on Christmas Day, rather than Starsky and Hutch. Something like Only Fooal and Horses, maybe the Jolly Boys Outing episode. Or something like a Vicar of Dibley Christmas repeat. I think there would be a lot more appetite for shows like that rather than a poorly received film repeat to finish of the big day.

Do you know how the childrens series "K9" is performing on Channel 5, weekday mornings 9:40am? Getting a lot of promotion at the minute across the channel. Thanks in advance.
