So presumably Prep and Landing at 5:30pm (which is meant to be a Christmas animation) flopped then?

Oh wow that's horrific, especially if that episode was kicking off a new storyline as returning viewers won't know what's going on. I know this statement pops up so regularly as to lose all meaning but that's "another record low rating for Hollyoaks" - and by a large distance too. I wish broadcasters would put all tea-time soaps on hiatus after about the 21st/22nd December as the tea-time soap viewing audience always seems to tail off - as demonstrated by the low rating for Neighbours yesterday. (H&A on hiatus could have dented Neighbours though)

As expected Eastenders is lower then Corrie but up on last Thursday and must have got a round the same as this time last year?

I expect Corrie to come out on top again tonight but things should change tommorow with EastEnders coming out top and into next week.

The rating for Hollyoaks just proves a point as to why
it's never on over the xmas

Merry Christmas to you all

The Nativity has done pretty well this week, but I agree alot of other stuff is not what you want in the run up to Christmas.

How Science changed the world? Who on earth wants to watch something that sounds like a lesson at this time of year?

I watched that but maybe it would have been better on BBC2 as we always know Science and Space shows don't do very well on BBC1.

Very good rating for WWTBAM, about 2 million above my estimation when HD is factored in.
I guess we wont get any new ratings for a while now, will it be next Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday?

Someone somehow somewhere (probably with 3 letter usernames ) will find out the main Christmas Day ratings on Sunday.

Erm, yeah... we'll get ratings still, just that the websites don't update. I'm sure someone tomorrow will post ratings, won't they?

Do you have the HD-included ratings for ITV last night please?

The Narnia rating bodes well for today's Prince Caspian movie.

WWTBAM did great for its first live episode. That might be the future for it - obviously it would be dented significantly by better opposition and the novelty would wear off, but a couple of live weeks a year could be a good idea.

BBC One's schedule has certainly been poor for the past couple of days. They seem to have thrown everything between Christmas and New Year which left them very little for this week. It's a bit frustrating, especially when you consider a big movie like Cars is airing this afternoon - it could easily have made a primetime offering sometime else this week.

The one effort that BBC One has made this week - The Nativity - has worked out very well though. 5m is a huge achievement for a drama in such a tough slot - I was expecting it to be down perhaps sub-4m to be quite honest. I couldn't see where it could find an audience.

Tonight's schedule should do OK, but it still strikes me as a little lacklustre. My Family was down quite significantly for its most recent series, but tends to benefit heftily from an EastEnders lead-in. I hope BBC Two gets some reward for its big drama tonight, but sadly it'll likely be well behind the nostalgia-fest of the past couple of days.

Thanks for those.

You're right, those are both exceptional for the slots they were in. They'd have been better off running Narnia at 8pm last night as opposed to the crap they actually aired, and it would have rated better too. I would say it bodes well for Prince Caspian at teatime today but it isn't as well known a story and it's not a great film so we'll see.

Also, really good for Millionaire last night - I'm sure it'll be live again soon.

That is very impressive indeed and bodes well for the similar double of Cars and Narnia 2 this afternoon and evening.

Tonight - 3.15m (13.1%)

Yes they are good, and we can see how BBC1 quietly goes about building its leading single channel share, together with the news bulletins putting in great figures this week. Certainly wont end up in any of the newspapers but the overall effect will be another year as the most watched channel.

Do you have the BBC News at Six and Regional News rating from yesterday? Presuming another 7m+ for the latter.

Very good for the daytime yesterday on BBC1.

I'll save my tributes for tomorrow.

Shame Corrie didn't quite edge 10m with HD, but it was only a couple of hundred thousand off. I think tonight it should do really well. To be just ahead of EastEnders, traditionally higher around Christmas, on the usually weaker Thursday is a great sign.

Tonight's episodes have received a little bit of press too, with the news the Poet Laureate has written a poem which is read out by Ken Barlow at a candlelit memorial service on the cobbles. Hope they can manage 10m+ for both, but EastEnders will obviously edge it since it's now the time people just leave BBC1 on all day / gran sits on the missing remote, etc

I would also like to express thanks to all those who have posted ratings in this thread over the past year.

And Merry Christmas to one and all.
