Yeah the H&A situation is pretty dire at the moment. I've noticed it's something both you, Dancc and myself have picked up on over the last few weeks. It really shouldn't be experiencing these sort of ratings in December. The show ends tomorrow and returns in a months time, but I fear viewers aren't going to come back. The show is pretty terrible at the moment (and I'm a fan of the show, even went to the beach where it's filmed when I was down under) and it's a shame it's doing so badly. Even in Oz it's not doing great. I think the Penn storyline has been badly executed and the lack of characters and strong characters is low at the moment. Here's hoping for some sort of revival in 2011, but I fear next year may see the end of the show.
Sadly I have to agree..the show has definitely been lacking since Sally and other characters from the early 2000's era left and it just doesn't seem to be getting any better. Personally, it doesn't feel like H&A anymore. It's completely changed and the only recognisable elements are Alf, Irene, Leah & Colleen. It's sad to see what was once an amazing show fall in quality so much, but I reckon it's time to put the show out of its misery. And I definitely agree about the viewers not returning-every time CH5 takes a break a few viewers go with it, and with the quality even poorer this time I reckon we'll be seeing new lows come January.

Very jealous you got to go to the beach though

ITV should bring back Survivor. .. I think it would be better than an I'm A Celeb rip off.
that is VERY funny.

Richard Desmond going on a charm offensive

this should attract some fresh, cyncail eyes to Five Daytime, people who would not normaly watch, some odd names for Daytime TV as well, Fearne Cotton, Holly Willoughby & Sir Richard Branson, dont seem like your normal Daytime TV people.

The Royal Variety Performance: 8.3m (33%)
Dirk Gently: 744,200 (3%)

Source: Attentional

Fantastic rating for the RVP considering the 1-hour soap clash, I thought it would've been around the 7m mark. Slightly down on last year's 8.8m (37.4%) but that's to be expected given that last year's one didn't clash against any soaps.

Blimey - that's a massive drop, just half of Wednesday night's audience. We did say at the time that it was poor scheduling by C4!

Mike- do you have a 15-minute breakdown of the RVP please?

The BSI strike again!

Could have had 9-10m had they left it till next Wednesday, say 7.30-10pm.

Going by the look of this weekend's weather Striclty could have it's best rating's ever.

If the snow is as bad as it's been reported many xmas partie's etc will be cancelled. If only the X Factor final was this weekend.
I wouldn't get too carried away. Even if millions are housebound - and I don't think it's going to be that bad - there are hundreds of TV channels people can choose to watch. They don't have to watch BBC1....

Terrific numbers for the Royal Variety Performance - just as impressive as last year, perhaps more so given the opposition. It also cut Corrie back down to its regular Thursday level. I guess we'll see tomorrow whether the 50th momentum has been lost now.

Awful for Million Pound Drop - how many of us said yesterday that they risked overkill? Especially with scheduling like that. I think even the BSI could teach C4's chiefs a thing or two about looking after your shows.

On the other hand, a really good overnight figure for Misfits. It's been a steady success on E4 this series (albeit everything looks low on multichannel once you've seen The Inbetweeners) - about double the level of its first series. And with the buzz around it still so good - there's plenty of potential for growth by next series yet too.

Fantastic for RVP-about 1 million up on my prediction due to the soap clash. However, ITV1 held up better than I thought. The first Emmerdale is slightly low, but both the filler programmes Tonight & Grimefighters were above 3m, and apart from last weeks Tonight rating, it must be one of the best this year. I definitely expected Grimefighters to be sub 3m, possibly nearer 2m.

Also I'd say it's an achievement that Corrie beat EE despite being up against an entertainment show drawing 8m at the same time-something that wouldn't have happened pre tram week. It's considerably down on Monday, but I reckon it'll be back up tonight/Monday, because there's a fantastic few weeks lined up and for the first time in months it's back to being the no1 soap in terms of quality imo.

CH4 seemed to suffer the most from being up against the RVP-ouch for MPD, but it is stupid scheduling up against the soaps, let alone the RVP. Also I expected Jamie to do a lot better. Not good if their food shows are starting to lose popularity too.

Find that really surprising myself the gap between EastEnders and Coronation Street. OK, EastEnders won share wise, but Coronation Street still above 9m against tough competition.

I won't be surprised if it bounces back above 10m, maybe 11m tonight. Pretty obvious momentum is still there based on that rating against 8m on BBC1. I think had it not been up against the Royal Variety, Corrie would have been almost certainly above 11m last night.

Worth noting though I do think that only 23m were watching at 19:30 when EastEnders came on, this increased to 24.8m at 8pm and 26.5m at 8:30pm.

Celebrity Grimefighters didn't flop spectacularly surprisingly. Million Pound Drop, well we're proved that the scheduling was stupid. Well done C4. Not.

The Christmas cooking shows this year seem to be doing quite badly. In previous years these shows seemed to rate quite highly.

Has cooking jumped the shark?

Very quiet ratings thread today!

I'm surprised the RVP did so well. The line-up was awful, in my opinion.

I used to watch when it was on ITV many years ago and got back into it in 2008 but my god it's really bad now
and is actually on par with Neighbours which is another soap i wanted for Many years (since the early 90's till 2007)
Id be surpised if Either sjow is still on air come 2012
the storylines in both soaps are dire.

Neighbours had been in a very bad state since late 2006 and now has become a joke but Home and away has toned down too much and nothing seems to happen

That explains why the Neighbours ratings are increasing!

the fall in Neighbours ratings for TEN this year, has not been replicated on Five.

IMO it really is the case that Neighbours could improve, but even if it was kept on TEN, it will never rate well again, Austrlia has turned its back on the show, and wont return.
