BTW, anyone know how The Xtra Factor has been doing on ITV2 this week with the Best and Worst auditions at 8pm?

Xtra Factor Best and Worst:
Mon 13th Dec (8pm)- 227k Tue 14th Dec (7pm)- 399k Wed 15th Dec (8pm)- 513k Thu 16th Dec (7pm)- 266k Whilst some of those may look a bit low they'll repeat well. Also the soaps clearly harm it as Wednesday's episode did well and Broadcast reports that Monday's episode actually did better on +1 where it got 282k, meaning that it's total was a much better 509k. I suspect something similar may have happened on Tuesday and Thursday.

Terrific numbers for the Royal Variety Performance - just as impressive as last year, perhaps more so given the opposition. It also cut Corrie back down to its regular Thursday level. I guess we'll see tomorrow whether the 50th momentum has been lost now.
Awful for Million Pound Drop - how many of us said yesterday that they risked overkill? Especially with scheduling like that. I think even the BSI could teach C4's chiefs a thing or two about looking after your shows. On the other hand, a really good overnight figure for Misfits. It's been a steady success on E4 this series (albeit everything looks low on multichannel once you've seen The Inbetweeners) - about double the level of its first series. And with the buzz around it still so good - there's plenty of potential for growth by next series yet too. Also, the Champions League draw has handed tough ties to Arsenal and Tottenham. Arsenal particularly with Barcelona.ITV will no doubt be pleased these two are not the biggest audience pullers. |

the fall in Neighbours ratings for TEN this year, has not been replicated on Five.
IMO it really is the case that Neighbours could improve, but even if it was kept on TEN, it will never rate well again, Austrlia has turned its back on the show, and wont return. |

The only time it looked like picking up in Australia was when it had the MasterChef lead-outs. A few episodes during 2009 rated close to 1 million because of this.

Poor lead in choice is why Neighbours is suffering. home and away seems to get a strong lead in despite its ratings dropping

Not much has been made of the possible Big Brother Australia return on ELEVEN. It does have the most flimsy evidence on the planet (a youtube video with the theme playing in the unused studio), but there has been some rumours of it coming back. I remember the hosts said on the final ever night - 'we will be back, don't worry' and the last words of the show were 'that's all....for now'.
Personally, I think it's 90% wishful thinking and 10% possibility. And I'm all for wishful thinking

Was the Australian version any good?
Only thing I remember about it is them paying Pamela Anderson a shedload of money go in there for a few days. The ratings barely lifted.

Meanwhile has TEN considered some form of MasterChef: Extra, for ELEVN? Or something like "Dine with MasterChef" where format Master Chef contestant, take part in a Come Dine With Me type show. You could also do a show where Celebrities are paired with a Master Chef contestant, and they do a dinner party together. |

ive not heard this, it wouldnt hurt for ELEVEN to have a big headline show in primetime, a few years ago Big Brother may have been the right choice, not now however

Very good rating for Coronation Street, if it weren't against the Royal Variety performance then I think it would have been 10 million+.
Tonight I am expecting around 10- 11 million for both episodes. |

EastEnders was hurt by the lack of audience watching at 7.30 seemingly. The share was good but the figure low. Coronation Street did well, but Collison took liberties with the tagline and I do wonder if that'll backfire. The Royal Variety Performance did well considering it was up against 60 minutes of soap.

ITV should bring back Survivor. It was presented by Mark Austin years ago.. I only faintly remember it, but I think it could do well in the summer for ITV with 3m+ most nights, with lots of 16-34s tuning in and it will help fill the void that Big Brother has left... I think it would be better than an I'm A Celeb rip off.

Good strong ratings for the soaps last night, especially Coronation ST seeing as that's without HD. That is very low rating for Peep Show though, I thought it had risen above 1 million last week.
Due to the large amount of snow across the heavily populated southern/central areas of the UK today, I think the Strictly Come Dancing final could go nuclear tonight! I could maybe see it heading towards 15million, what do others think? |

Really bad for Channel 4 again
![]() Also I notice The Mentalist on C5 did really well last night after some underwhelming ratings in recent weeks. And a fantastic rating for The Graham Norton Show on BBC1 - an all-time high for the 2nd week in a row. |

Coronation Street is really on a ratings roll. What they managed to do it seems with the post tram crash episodes is have some really strong episodes that have kept people hooked. EastEnders lost momentum after the live episode I seem to remember. But I'm old and the memory cheats!
![]() rzt is that the highest rating for HIGNFY in quite some time? |
