in all fairness to Corrie, those week long highs are impressive, even if the Live ep, wasnt the highest rated.

Million Pound Drop playing the celebrity card again tonight (Emma Bunton and boyfriend Jade Jones).
I have refused to watch since the episode where George and Larry Lamb got easier questions, and I won't be returning to the show.

Don't worry, in a few weeks Channel 4 will be playing the axe card and another show will be consigned to the trash.

I wonder if anything on C4 will top 4m (excluding +1) next year? I reckon not, unless they have a particularly big film premiere to go out.

What are the BBC trying todo with EastEnders?
They seem to have kept Xmas and New year a secret(or most storylines) we only know that Phill has a heart attack,There's a Baby death and A stabbing and also A face from the past returns that will blow us all away (not sonia)

But how do they expect viewers to tune in if they don't reveal whats happening?
I know back in Feb the BBC stated they will keep more storylines secret but i think this is stupid and allthough Christmas looks Brilliant there's just no hype.

I also Noticed on New years Eve it airs 8:00pm-8:40pm so ITV have gone for the option of 8:40pm for corrie.

Tonight i expect monster ratings for SCD
the snow is pretty bad and most places seem cut-off

Fantastic for Coronation Street last night and Emmerdale and Night For Heroes rated reasonably too. As ever BBC1 held up well.

Here's a big question: could Strictly beat The X Factor this year? I would not even ask this without the weather but with everywhere snowed in...

Quite a few people seemed to watch Strictly tonight that wouldn't normally because they were snowed in. I'm not sure it'll beat The X Factor but I do think its rating will be huge.

As for EastEnders, I think I saw a trailer for the Christmas episode tonight.

Odds on which programme will have the largest Christmas viewing figures (very poor value here, most of these odds will change during the week).

Ladbrokes Hills
2/5fav 1/2fav EastEnders
9/4 4/1 Doctor Who
4/1 7/2 The Royle Family
7/1 3/1 Corrie
20/1 16/1 Come Fly With Me
33/1 bar.

I don't think 'everywhere' is snowed in, most of the eastern side of the country haven't had anything by all accounts.

The plots for Coronation Street this Christmas are all still written in riddles due to the magazines being out before the tram crash happened. It's all "One resident spends Christmas alone", "One family receives shocking news" etc

I think that after that final on Strictly quite a few people will want to see the Christmas special. But I think both Strictly and Corrie will do well during the clash as they are both on a roll.

Speak for yourself - I'm nearly as east as you can get and we've got loads of the stuff here.

I think I remember you saying you were from Ipswich and judging by the football earlier there has been quite a bit there.

Parts of London Had a powercut
and Swindon and Cheltenham towns were cut off

I cannot believe these are considered the top 6 programmes for Xmas this year. The soaps...full for death, misery and illness. The royal family & Doctor Who could be ok but come fly with me looks awful judging by the trailers. This year the Wii will win the viewing figures in our house and I can safely say the TV will not be watched all day!

Will be watching those 3 and might give Come fly with me ago

I don't think EastEnders will be the most watched show of the day though and think either Dr who or Come fly with me will be

EastEnders is a Christmas tradition for many though even some 'stars' over the past few weeks have been saying this aswell as alot of casual viewers

But if parts of the country had power cuts they wouldn't have been able to see SCD. So who knows what it would mean for ratings?

Is Stacey leaving on Christmas Day? And I have seen the Doctor Who trailer loads of times.

EDIT-Im surpised that the BBC are not Promoting the fact EastEnders Goes HD for the first time on xmas day

Would be fantastic if Take Me Out could get around 5m+
"Fantastic" if it only managed its normal audience on a night when we are being told that the entire nation is stuck inside watching the telly and when it is up against the lotto draw and Casualty?

In the first minute I saw of the lottery, they announced that the musical guest hadn't made it in due to the weather and the presenter and Voice of the Balls were engaging in banter about their journey times in to pad it all out - riveting stuff.

I expect Dad's Army may have done ok on BBC2...

An official average then of 13.54m for the week, timeshifting 1.4m on the overnight average of 12.1m.

This compares with EastEnders' 25th week average of 12.52m for the week, timeshifting 0.7m on the overnight average of 11.8m.
A totally meaningless comparison as EE had one special anniversary episode, whilst Coro St had seven!

The Coro live ep fell well short of EE Live in the end - surprising really, as Coro had everything going for it beating EE Live.

No surprise that the actual crash episode was the highest-rated of the week - that was the one that got all the promotion/publicity in the build-up. If people decided to watch just one Coro ep that week, it would probably have been that one.

Here's a big question: could Strictly beat The X Factor this year? I would not even ask this without the weather but with everywhere snowed in...
More chance of hell freezing over.

Mind you, if this current spell of weather continues....

I notice we've had no National Grid or Twitter updates tonight - as we usually get when ITV is expected to deliver a big audience.

Did anyone spot the little dig at Cowell in tonight's introductory preamble - the lookalike sat in his bedsit glued to the SCD final? See link below, about 20-30 seconds in. Quite amusing.
