With regards to Daybreak, maybe ITV should've had CITV 6-7am again. It did badly last week, but would've made the Daybreak average less embarrasing. I guess 7-8.30am would've averaged out at over 500k?

Fantastic night for ITV1 last night, what was that people said about Coronation Street going back to about 8 million and being beaten by EastEnders most of the year?

ITV News did really well, and The Lakes was strong.

Daybreak's rating isn't worthy of an comment at all. Considering this is the first time there has been a full length programme on a Bank Holiday, I'd be surprised if it wasn't a record low. Breakfast has also shed about half it's audience maybe that should be axed as well.

Channel 4 will be waggling the chequebook soon, then.

I guess it just got too popular for Dominoes to afford - they were reporting a massive increase in orders when the show was on air though.

This business about DA and UD is going to run and run obviously. The figures are very good for both shows. ITV have this knack of getting a hype element into their big shows-people get so involved with X Factor, IAC and now Downton that they become transfixed.Some of the posts on the DA thread say its the greatest thing since sliced bread,and the problem for UD is that its always going to be on the "drab" side of Downton even if its scheduled six months apart. UD has imo, lost a percentage of viewers because its compared (irrationally probably) unfavourably with Downton and I can see why maybe there is a bit of resentment in UD circles.

Very impressive rating for Stargazing Live in such a tough timeslot - tonight's episode has a great chance of beating ITV1. The two 9pm dramas did well considering they're both quite similar in the crime-genre. I suspect Silent Witness will extend its lead tonight with a Holby City lead-in as Above Suspicion doesn't have the benefit of airing after Corrie. Excellent for the Big Fat Quiz of the Year to average that high until so late; no surprise Famous & Fearless fell after its first episode reception.

It's a shame for BBC1 that they couldn't get Upstairs Downstairs out sooner, though considering when Downton Abbey came out they would've been pushed to broadcast it before it.

I agree with excel99 - ITV should've just aired CITV on from 6-7/7.30 and ran Daybreak for a shirter period. While a dreadful rating it's nothing to panic about relatively speaking; Breakfast was also down by a sizeable amount - it just had a higher starting point.

Primetime was excllent for ITV1. Above Suspicion may be a slight disappointment though; with the amount of promotion it's been receiving and a Coronation Street lead in I would've expected to marginally beat Silent Witness. I doubt the lack of lead in will hurt it too much though; as Silent Witness is part two of three people won't hang around to watch it unless they've seen part one.

Very bizarre scheduling from BBC1 last night. Why the move of Celebrity Mastermind as it was doing so well at 7pm? Why the obsession with cookery shows; have they no other 30 minute programmes they could air in the slots? It's no wonder Emmerdale rated so well!

I hope Famous and Fearless holds up -noit because I think it deserves to but because I have 1.7m down for it on the Ratings Game. Considering it start halfway through highly rated programming on BBC1 and ITV1, The Big Fat Quiz of the Year claimed a very good rating and begs the question what would it have done had it been scheduled better.

Stargazing was probably the standout of the night, even discounting the soaps. An excellent rating for it and it should claim second spot in the 8pm hour tonight, though I think Secret Mediterrian (am I even close in spelling that?) will go close.

Not the best of nights for Five but CSI will result in an improvement for it tonight.

A pity for ITV that AIs do not make money as that is the only recent figure that would save Primeval.

I think it just has to hope for mid 4s for the rest of the series - that and hope The Magicians starts to falter which'll draw in extra viewers.

ITV's scheudle doesn't look to bad for Saturday but In It To Win It could be a pain in the neck for them; it'll be interesting to see how that hurts Take Me Out.

Obviously with less viewers available at that time of day both breakfast shows will be down in terms of audience. It's the shares that are important. Breakfast's 34% is still very strong and only slightly lower than what it normally gets. Can't say the same for Daybreak's 13%.

So a difference audience is watching TV at that time? If so, it just reinforces the point that ITV should've gone with CITV rarther than Daybreak yesterday.

Looks like Benidorm is going out on Saturdays, according to the latest Digiguide update anyway.

I guess habits are different in that if you don't have to go to work and happen to be up that early, news weather and travel updates are not likely to be at the top of your viewing agenda in the same way they might be on a workday. So viewers tend to disperse more than they normally would and seek out multichannel options etc.

As for CITV- not a bad idea but Milkshake has this audience pretty well catered for already.

Does it say if it's brand-new episodes or repeats? They repeated Benidorm on a Saturday night last year so maybe it's a re-run? What is the whole schedule for ITV1 that night by the way?

True, but Breakfast has the Daybreak audience catered for as well. It's less embarrassing for ITV if CITV limps along with 0.3m!

What massive night all round really, but these are the figures I want to pick up on. Exactly what I was expecting for SW and AS. Such a shame they are against each other because they obviously appeal to a very similar audience so both are capable of more.

The soaps had an excellent night. Corrie nudging past against EE again. I would't write Corrie off just yet for 2011 with figures like that! Even more impressive those are full slot ratings and both eps ended early last night. Both are going to be close to 12m in the officials. And finally that Emmerdale rating !! With another big plot just around the corner looks like Emmerdale are carrying forward all those new viewers from last year into 2011!

Not marked as a repeat, but with no synopsis or other data either it could be.

ITV stupidly got the drama and the flop zone fodder the wrong way around.

Taggart against the second episode of a Silent Witness 2 parter is total stupidity.

Not sure what constitutes a "bad" figure here but having seen Eric and Ernie and Rock and Chips I would agree with the spacing. The figure for The Magicians presumably puts this show in the long line of BBC entertainment ideas which are not worth much more than the term "filler".

Thanks. I think it's probably a repeat as there's no mention on ITV Press Centre or even a press pack which you'd expect, a member of the cast was saying a few days ago the series returns in February and they only just finished editing the first episode of the series last week.

If it's a new episode then ITV must be confident of it doing well without a Corrie lead-in... I suppose rightly so after the Xmas special got its highest ever audience. But it'd be better for them to switch TV Burp with Primeval, even though it's a Best of edition as it's more likely to get higher ratings and boost the rest of the night for them.

If taht's a new Benidorm then the schedule looks ok. If that's a repeat then there's still no excuse why they couldn't have spread Dancing on Ice across the weekend to aid it:

When does the new series of TV Burp start?Is it before Primeval finishes? In hindsight they should've waited and let the new series boost Primeval but I guess they thought it should do ok on it's own.

More changes to C4 daytime in Week 3. More subtle this time, with Countdown and DOND creeping forward by 5 minutes to start at 3.15 and 4.00 respectively. Sensible, but why didn't they just do that in the first place? Still think an hour is too long for DOND though, any figures yet since the change?

8pm meanwhile is looking 'very Channel 4' that week with programmes including Will My Crazy Diet Kill Me? and The Year Britain Froze. More uninspired programming that's been done to death no doubt.

Some huge soap ratings last night as the public get themselves back into weeknight working mode. I think Emmerdale is the stand out rating for last night. My records don't go back far enough but that's its highest full slot 7pm rating in several years I think. It did have a 9m + last year but that was in a later evening timeslot.

Not very good for channel 4 in my view. The Big Quiz show had 2.67m without +1 last night, which is down 500k on the previous year's edition of 3.19m without +1 (overnight). This of course is largely down to totally silly scheduling times. I really hope they have some improvements coming up.
