I want to get a phone for my son who lives in a small hamlet, where his mobile reception is variable.
It is vital to have a good phone for emergency use,his wife is expecting soon and i have told him he must not risk being out of range.
There is a bt line in place already
Any thoughts
Thanks

First question.

Is the BT line active? It's not clear from your post whether your son has an existing account with BT or not?

If he does then pretty much any phone will do. Most of the time it's just a case of working out what bells and whistles you want.

If the line is dead,as in no dial tone,BT will reconnect for free, and within 1 week but you will have to sign up to a 18 month contract;others such as Talk Talk will charge you about £70.00 to be connected, but only need to sign a 12 month contract

Yes it is active. On reflection it might be part of his sky or cable package

Looks like any phone will do, i will scout round one of the big stores in that case
Thanks again

As it's for emergencies, make sure it's a wired phone rather than a cordless.
