Aliona is amazing. Breath of fresh air, female Brendan, etc.

It's so good to have someone like her around pissing off the prudes and whiners and loosening this show up a bit.

I would like Matt to win
Me too!

and hope she is not tempted to play safe
But she's hurt her finger, and her knees, and her elbows, and her back, and...

Is this Pamela's forced smile and disingenuine hilarity? With that too blonde hair and rictus grin she is gradually morphing into Tina Sparkle from Strictly Ballroom. She is a good dancer but her way of performing is very old-fashioned. I prefer dancers who put a little bit of their own personality and true emotions into their performances.

Love Matt and Aliona in this clip. There seems to be a real connection and real sense of fun between them.
Agree greatly with what you wrote, particularly the bolded parts.

The image of Pamela's jive smile still unsettles me. I also don't sense any of this supposed "joy" about her performances, and I think she's as much of a try-hard as Matt is - and Kara too. (They all seem dedicated and invested in the dancing; that's not a bad thing.)

Just wish her colouring didn't make Matt look so pasty & emphasise his facial sheen.

Intersting interview with Matt and Aliona about their reaction to the harsh judging and some stuff about the showdance.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1uyO-rFBrU

Check out how she teases him to say something about the judges at 45 seconds into the VT

Made me laugh
Aliona is charming and for ages it was bugging me who she reminded me of facially: the actress who plays Charlotte in SATC.

That's another vote for Matt then.

The sweaty face he can't do much about, but her colouring They are so mismatched physically, but lately I do detect a bond.

I did not realise the contestants had to be colour matched - maybe Matt should dye his hair for the final?

My tongue was firmly in my cheek

However I agree with you she is a legend - I just love her
Oh c'mon don't devalue the word legend. Elvis, Marylyn Monroe, Barbra Streisand etc are legends . She is just a quirky girl who is new to SCD and I'm not sure if she is a good teacher.

I bet Matt and Lilia would have been a fabulous partnership.

Oh, I don't like Kristina too. To porny, if you get the drift! I don't mind Natalie, but her teeth, oww, my eyes.

I just want a more 'normal' look like Flavia. Hmm, my kind of girl. As for Aliona, her greatest mistake is her hair, ten years down the line she will look back at those pics and sob.
The red was the BBC's idea, not hers. She says she's used to it, but I bet it goes blue over Christmas

There were shades of blonde showing through on ITT but I don't care she's my heroine

They really are in tune with each other. For me theirs is a genuine rapport, they disagree, have an occasional fall out and laugh a lot. Brilliant partnership, which part of why they are my favourite couple.
Me too

They looked like a big contrast when they were first paired up, but Aliona has brought to the fore different aspects of Matt.

He has an artistic side, is very open minded but firm on doing things the right way. If you push him to his limit, he's still friendly polite and funny. And if he teams up with you, he's going to give you 100%.

Aliona has worked her socks off in very testing conditions and produced a lot of very entertaining routines. Matt described her as a perfectionist and we have seen her work in detail on his technique.

We learned recently that Matt has been to Brazil and saw them doing back flips in the Samba. That explains why Aliona said to Len 'We knew you wouldn't like it.' I think Matt was 100% behind her in including it.

Whoever did the pairing up of the couples for this year really knew what they were doing.

Initially I did not like Aliona but after the judging fiasco she has won me completely round. Hope she has got the choreography spot on tonight.

Er - there wouldn't have been a 'judging fiasco' last week had Aliona actually choreographed a salsa, instead of some bizarre disco showdance.

She must have known how the judges would react and, consequently, how upset Matt would get. Yet she still went ahead and did it. That isn't daring or ground-breaking. It's stupid and arrogant.

And she isn't a female Brendan. I'm not Brendan fan, but at least he stands up for what he's done, defends himself and/or his celeb and even admits it when he gets it wrong. Aliona hasn't got the guts to do that - she stands there smirking. Not a particularly attractive trait ...

Each to their own. I like her. As an aside, I've never known Brendan admit he's wrong, which he is , lots.

He admitted that he got his jive with Michelle wrong on ITT. (Len said there wasn't enough jive content, Brendan insisted there was at the time, then revised his opinion later and agreed that Len had a valid point).

Not the Brendan of old, sure - maybe he's mellowing with age?!

What fiasco?

Matt is a talented dancer, but Aliona choreographed a poor routine which didn't make the most of his ability. Therefore they scored low. Her fault, not the judges.

I love her for getting people like you to dip into their unnecessary vitriol reserves like this. I'm sure she'd stand there smirking at you if you said this to her, PMSL.

Aliona for the win.
