Silicone cookware
I'm having to admit my stupidity here but I've deliberately never bought these because I haven't got a clue whether they're suitable for a gas oven. The only instructions I've ever seen on them just states what temperatures they can sustain but I couldn't figure out whether a gas oven would just set fire to them.

I use them in a fan assisted oven, and they are fine.

Can't see why they wouldn't work in gas exactly the same as they do in electric and I suspect if there were any issues, there would be warnings all over them. They're fantastic for straight from freezer to oven baking!

Don't the silicone things make the food cooked in them taste funny?

No, definitely not.
Fab invention as far as I'm concerned. I've actually started baking sponge cakes again. Recently bought the poached egg pods (great) and bought a silicone vegetable steamer which I've yet to use. |

I don't use mine as often as I should.
And no, the food doesn't 'taste funny'. Got mine from QVC (I know ) but got six items for the price of 1.5 from House of Fraser.

I have found them wonderful at first, but after a couple of uses I have had to brush margarine in them to stop them sticking. Now I do that they are fine again.

Must say I m not impressed and have gone back to paper cases and lining proper tins with greaseproof, the cup cake moulds are a real pain to wash up too.
