Where were they in the 60s ???
Paul John, Mick, Ray Davies were all prolific songwriters,
what were Bjorn and Benny up to during the 60s ?
They finally began to click around 1972 and soon they were

True, but both Benny and Bjorn were hugely successful artists in their previous bands Hep Stars and Hootenany Singers through the 60s, and put ABBA together while forming the record company Polar in partnership with Stig Andersson. They needed Eurovision to reach an international audience. They really hit their stride thanks to the influence of the Beach Boys and improvements in studio technology. The girls were also crucial of course - instantly making their music more commercial. Love ABBA, would recommend people read the books "Bright Lights, Dark Shadows" or "Benny's Road to ABBA".
