According to this article One Direction are going to America in the new year presumably to record their album. Do you think Simon will be aiming 1D at the US market instead of the UK one?

No, because he knows too well they'll go nowhere in the USA.

Like I said, they won't make it in the USA. They don't take well to boybands in general, never mind talentless ones.

Hopefully they'll get some singing lessons while they're out there

They need it. Badly. Perhaps while they're there they'll be taught what a 'crotchet' is!!

I hope it's true! I could see them going out there to meet with songwriters and producers to come up with a direction to take them that would suit the US market and tastes.

The tour doesn't start until late February. I can see them spending the month of January doing that. Maybe even taking meetings with TV and film people, music marketing executives....stuff like that.

You know, come up with a plan of action.

I think the only reason One Direction will do well is because their female fans will support them because of what their raging hormones are telling them. They're nowhere near the outstanding harmonisers level yet. Once they've FINALLY reached where JLS are, THEN they'll start doing well with their talent. I think Simon knows that the only reason they'll do well is because of the girls with raging hormones, that's all. I'm not disrespecting the lads themselves, they might be nice lads, it's just that they're not great harmonisers. I wish them well in the future with any success they might have.

I actually think they will do good. There is no current boy band in America right now. The BSB and New kids are back but they are old. One direction can have at least one year of success imo. After that who knows but they will be liked by little girls over there. It's like having 5 biebers!

Yes they can! I have just had an x factor repeat night coz I am sad!! Yes the backing music was very loud in the beginning but they were all singing. I actually can't believe how well they have gelled in such a short time. Think what they will be like in another 6 months! Watching their earlier episodes to the last ones was amazing to see their improvement but then that was true of a lot of them (shame Aiden didn't progress for us to see that too). Rebecca turned into a confident singer with total eye contact by the end.

All you guys who have constantly gone on about1 D's miming. Do you think for one minute another contestant wouldn't have mentioned it? Funny all the other contestants seemed to love them apart from Wagner but don't think he counts (feel the loaf!) I wonder if you are the same guys who mentioned about Buble's miming when he wasn't. perhaps you just couldn't believe how good these guys actually were so therefore had to convince yourself it was miming! I also don't think Danni would have been as kind with her comments if they had been miming. She only gave one bad critique and I think it was a very fair one.

I just hope if they have got any sense they will carry on singing live and not cheat like JLS who constantly mime nowadays (at least from what I have seen from the recent TV programmes)

I would be surprised if Simon launches them in the USA first without launching them here first. But I do know from various web sites and twitter they have a huge american fan base.

I really think this band have a good chance of being mega big and really hope Simon pulls out all the stops and doesn't screw up like he has been known to in the past.

I know they can't sing. Usually members of a boy band can't sing. The bsb, nsync, new kids can't sing and they made it big time in the US. With bands it's definitely not about the singing. It's about being cute and teenage hormones. 1D are cute except for Louis who looks 50. But the rest are pretty and fit. With a catchy song I'm sure they can have some success. One thing is for sure. 1D have a bigger chance of cracking the American market than Matt and Rebecca.

I think IF they're bringing them to America, they're grooming them for an eventual US launch but they'll break in the UK first.

I bet they're collecting data on what kind of fans they have and where they're from through their official web site. You can track who's checking it out and see who's signing up for the newsletter - stuff like that. If they see a significant enough interest in the US, then they'll go for it.

LOL! Of course he isn't. Why would he concentrate on the US first? Nobody over there knows them. They need to have some hit songs and a hit album here before he would consider launching them there.

The article seems to be implying that they might RECORD in the US. Like Leona Lewis recorded most of her album in America but she still released it in the UK first.

I honestly don't think the Americans will take to them. Apart from Liam and Harry, the others aren't very good singers (and I say this AFTER hearing them sing). There's thousands of young boys who can sing better and are better looking than those two bookends. All the miming and standing around will quickly bore the US. Simon is trying to clutch onto Bieber Fever; but there's one problem....they aren't Bieber.

Umm...are you familiar with "singers" like Britney Spears, Rihanna and Ke$ha? And Justin Bieber ain't exactly Pavarotti either.

It has nothing to do with them not being good singers; the US market simply isn't kind to boybands right now, I don' think working with american producers would change that. Anyway, I don't want them soiling my country with their presence, so this article better be bullshit.
