They do seem to be preparing him for retirement though. Firstly through him not presenting the results show and secondly with letting Barrowman have a crack at the dancing.

Whilst he seems to only have a few supporters on these forums, I am sure that within a year of hosting the show he would be appreciated by the majority of followers for being a professional and humerous presenter. As I said above, people fear change.

I heard Bruce being interviewed on the Chris Evans radio show yesterday morning, and Chris asked him if he was going to come back again next year. Bruce said that he would take time off (about 3 or 4months) and then decide what he would do.
Have to admit that I would def like him to go, think this series has been high on the cringe scale.

I've voted no but not because I don't like the guy. I have a great affection for him - he always been a slightly hammy presenter (apologies to Hamsters reading this), with his catchphrases, obvious jokes, and tendency to sing and dance a bit - but this series he really has seemed so close to making a total blls up, memory-wise. I'd rather have him quit than be humiliated.

Just re-read the thread: On no account let it be Anton.

I like SCD but Bruce is just a doddering old fart
He's not even a good presenter

He might been good in 1960 but just like anything else that was good in the 60's - they're sh!t now

Bet you're glad you're not still using computer made in th 60's

I'm an old fart and I dont want to watch another one

Should been traded in for a newer model 20 years ago - bit like Bruce does with his 'assistants'

Great post Jethro. One question though. Were you refering to his on screen partnerships or his nurs, I mean wives?

Have to say I prefer it on a Sunday when he isn't there... so it's a NO from me.

Lol!!! I think maybe Lionel Blair could try presenting if he's interested as he is still sprightly !

Best they stop Bruce now before he becomes really embarrassing

Those of us with the right kind of eyes will see it so and also recognise that within a few years of replacing the old host the new one will also be talked about in the same terms. Imagine if you will a crazy scenario where people are mourning John Craven not presenting strictly anymore. "Since Brucie left he's been the only thing holding the ship together" and "He might be terrible at telling jokes but he's better than x or y are so I say we keep him on". People are inherently fearful of change and yet when it arrives they invariably groan about it for a few weeks and then live with it and then come to appreciate it. Alesha is a case in point. This year many have been commenting on her being the most accurate of the judges in her scoring. One year ago she was the most hated figure in Strictly.

Whoever is chosen will be immediately disliked by at least half the viewers based on nothing but preconceptions and a lot of those barrackers will end up supporting the presenter within a year or two.

All this aside, the evidence that we have to go on, ie Forsythe's performance week on week suggests that he is or did some time ago reach a point where he is/was incapable of presenting a tv show with aplomb. Time to replace at the end of this series. (in my opinion, time to replace 2 series ago)”

It's a good argument until you used Alesha as an example. She was the most sane judge for one night the rest of the time it more of the same over-marking and innane comments.

Last thing you want on Live show is Brucie sneezing and making a big mistake in his pants

So sick of Bruce that I attempted to vote for this poll twice.
Awful jokes added to the grumpiness of my father-in-law.

Strictly's only chance of competing with X Factor now is to ditch ferret head. He has become a complete embarrassment. It's quite sad to see how desperate he has become.

Barrowman will end Strictly as a mass audience puller, you cannot have a Marmite presenter and the guy is too loud and over the top for Strictly. Its harsh, but from my experience, too many people simply wont watch him and obviously thats not going to do the show any good.

Bruce is obviously not as slick as he used to be (he is arguably the most watched person in tv history given all his huge ratings shows since as far back as the late fifties), but i keep praying he carries on-the possible alternatives might be a case of frying pans and fires for those that want him out.

There are a lot of disrespectful and bitter comments on this thread and that reveals just how out of touch this forum is. A lot of folk here have an anger agenda, taking the whole issue of Strictly far too seriously (hence the reason for their negative proactivity). As such, I believe, they are not typically representative of the average Strictly fan.

I say: Keep the presenters as they are, or watch as the programme jumps the shark and the ratings dive!

I agree. And it will be Bruce who decides-not the BBC. Infact the BBC simply could not sack Bruce.

the ratings will not dive and Brucie does dither at times, admit that. We are just stating how we feel and are entitled to.
