Yes I agree however why would the school pictures be on the wall along with his and his brother that does not make sense..I did not have pictures aof my friends children in the school clothes in the house hanging on the walls;

Sorry Marella, I wasn't contradicting you when I said she "took them in", I was just recalling what Matt said......which wasn't an awful lot.

I'll try not to make it too long.
The children lost their mother when the parents were separated and the father wasn't on the scene (maybe working abroad)
However the court would want to be certain that if the father inheritted the considerable cash which would come from such an accident then some of that cash had to go to the children. If the father had left and had not been paying maintenance etc ..then this would be of some concern. Clearly the boys' mum had no family in the UK
It IS possible that the Cardles were given care under ward of court for the kids while all the financial stuff was sorted out with the father ....this could have taken up to two - three years ...essentially if the oldest child hadn't been officially adopted he was in a dodgy place and his interests in particular needed to be protected.
If they were separated it is unlikely that the father knew who was and whoo was not close to his wife ..it doesn't say how long they;d been apart.
IF they are members of a church ..then it makes it even more likely that the Cardles helped out through the church.
The connection between the boys (all of them ) and the cardles (Mr and MRS is undisputed )

Yes ward of court could be the answer they are extremely careful and would have chosen them because of this. Very logical

well we know that simon said that Matt had sung his way to the win ...but clearly the DM would have us believe that the story in week 5 was what actually won him the game
