Two showdances and a tea dance
bloggingbelle

Well done Matt and Kara for entering into the spirit of the showdance - shame the judges don't like it.

We have seen professional showdances with very little dance content in the past but tonight we saw a pretty tea dance with very little Show get rewarded by the judges again.

Sadly I am not sure how the proper show dances will go down with the SCD demographic - but my phone bill has gone sky high for my favourite, who is not the judges favourite.

Please everyone stop hating on any dancer that's not your favourite.

The truth of the matter is that both Matt and Kara performed showdances with little content but with flashy moves. They didn't wholly pull them off however which many of their fans will fully admit.

Pamela also danced an entertaining routine (though not in the same way due to the lack of 'flashy' lifts and tricks done by both of the other performers) which contained DANCE. They also stumbled in the middle and only scored one mark higher than Kara who made far more mistakes in her showdance.

They all danced well considering the circumstances of time restraints and pressure and each one deserves their place in the final without the abuse they've been getting on here. Pamela's dance may not have been to your taste as were neither of the other two for me but you don't see me posting negative and offensive posts dissing them.

There was no personal comment about Pamela - just pointing out two couples took a chance and one couple didn't.

This is true, just a shame the chances they took were too risky and ended up looking awful at some points.

I love all three couples but NONE of them did a show dance that ticked all the boxes of:
- Enough show
- Enough dance
- Well executed.

Not a patch on Alesha's, Tom's, Zoe's, Mark's. Heck, Chris Hollins's was better than all of them.

I'm disappointed. I don't see any reason to single out Pamela's routine - none of them will go down as classics.

Absolutely right.

I was disappointed in all 3

Matt's was too disjointed

Kara made too many mistakes

But at least they were original

With Pamela & James I felt like I was watching Dirty Dancing - The Return with an aged Baby and Johnny trying to recreate their moment of glory.

I don't get how Michelle & Brendan were criticised about the Time Warp dance when they did a little bit of a homage to it, when this had so much of the original DD dance in it...thought it a bit lazy

Matt and Kara didn't actually dance, they just jumped around like hyperactive kids. Not very impressive IMO.

.... and sadly so, since I think all 3 had potential for it....

I agree it was like tea dance at the old peoples home. Wot the point in saying you Can do as many lifts and tricks as you like then praising a dull routine copied from a film. She has a weakness yet noone ever mentions it she can't do Latin

It is the first time that all the cup-ples have done the show dance when they did it. In the past, it has been the last routine. What's occurring?

Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy's showdance became and has remained the benchmark for showdances. TBH, no one has got near it since, although Tom and Camilla's was great for entertainment and technical performance value.

All 3 of tonight's efforts were frankly weak. Aliona's choreography was weak, with those two boxes meaning they couldn't use the floor properly. The whole thing was terribly static.

Only Kara and Artem's routine could've been good had they performed it to the proper standard. Less said about Pamela's tea dance the better. Truth is, she's just too hefty for James to be able to lift her much above waist height.

I'm always a bit confused about what they want from a showdance because when they have champion pro showdancers on, it has always been more of a big guy juggling a female pro whose feet hardly touch the floor.

A concept so tragically attempted by Brendan and Lisa.

Ah well said the soul. Ah so, said the well.

I have always said I hate show dances, and this year has done nothing to change my mind. They could do so much better! They don't have to do all that acrobatic, gymnastic, tricky crap - no need for that at all.

Pamela's was safe, certainly, and didn't deserve a 10 for the content, but it was charming and well-danced.

The whole concept of the show dance is to do something out of the ordinary - not to celebrate the ordinary.

Personally I prefer the show dances in the second show.

Agree show dances where a let down - never felt like this before, think the whole series wasn't a patch on previous, but hope the show can come back bigger and better than ever next year.

Kara and Matts showdances were much in the style of the ones seen in DWTS which seems to be an ongoing theme in this entire series.

Pamela's.... I dont really know what to say, in the context of a 'showdance', it just well ... wasn't.

Quite. They took risks. James was clever with the choreography so Pamela only had to do normal dancing but look good, very clever.
