Thought I would switch it on for the first time this year and it seems very flat and I assume this is supposed to be a better atmosphere as its the final

I'm 'giving it a go', and finding Kara Tointon absolutely adorable. But yes, the rest of it has had my eyelids drooping.

Myself and my flatmate gave it a go but we couldn't even suffer it as background noise. Not my cup of tea at all.

I like Kara and hope she wins an absolutely charming girl.

I cannot stand Bruce Forsyth and Tess Daly unfortunately.

Its on but not really caring

I usually watch Strictly, well since series 5 that is.

But this year I gave it up.

I ended up abandoning Cardle and found the non appreciation thread over there, made watching Strictly heaps more fun

It's always courteous for people to keep their bitching in the right place I feel.

I'm not really into dancing, but for me, this year's Strictly was far better than XF. XF IMO has become a joke...

What do you mean background noise? It's LIVE MUSIC! no auto-tune, no miming, minimal pre-recording (only when they have to insert an 'entertainment dance' to cover costume changes). If only the X Factor singers could learn a thing or two from the session pro's on Strictly they'd maybe be able to earn honest livings and develop lasting careers; but then they're really only interested in mag deals and Cowell et al. are only interested in the swift buck, innit.

X Factor is fun but has nothing to do with professional music-making whatsoever; Strictly is a ballroom dancing competition - not the sort of thing that would normally brew my cuppa either Mary Patricia! - but the musicality of the instrumentalists, singers and dancers both pro and am keeps me, and millions of others, hooked week after week.

Nothing like a bit of musical integrity to cheer us through this winter of discontent

To be fair, I switched off as soon as Pamela was voted off.
My strictly favs have a habit of coming 3rd.

I had two wisdom teeth pulled so can't go out this weekend. I've pretty much spent the last two nights chatting on this forum with the tv on but not really watching it, hence background noise. Without the X-Factor, we turned on Strictly but it bored us so much we changed the channel. I don't read too much into the X-Factor, I watch it for the entertainment value but I can see why others don't like it.
