Good to see a positive thread about her. I was pretty torn between Kara and Pamela the last few weeks, but before Kara came into her own a few weeks ago, Pamela was my 'favourite' – even now she has the edge in my overall favourites of this year. But Kara deserved to win as she was a better all round dancer IMO (though when it comes to the slower elegant dances, Pamela tops it for me). Pamela was the better dancer tonight, such a shame she didn't get further, not least because I want to see her AT. And there you have it – for me, there is not another dancer in the competition this year whose coming dance I *wanted* to see.
I would have been happy for Pamela to win, because not only was she a good dancer 'for her age', she was a good dancer, regardless, and was streets ahead of everyone else in the competition (except over Kara during the last month or so, as Kara was rather wooden the first half of the series). She really done herself proud. In my opinion, if Pamela wasn't going to come first, she should of received second place tonight.
Pamela has received a lot of vehement, and unwarranted criticism in this forum, ranging through all kinds of daft and silly speculations, and sometimes just downright lies tinged with personal prejudice. People are entitled to their opinions, and for the most part, there were probably many reasons for this, but in their essence, most of them didn't amount to much more than just an irrational dislike of someone who was a bit different. Sadly, that's just the way some people are.
Out of all the dances and dancers this year, Pamela and James have many dances that will stick in my mind and ones I will re-watch on YouTube. They have been a joy to watch.
Now, I'm off to find ways to fill in the gap on a Saturday evening that Strictly has left
