I know that they were the marmite couple this year...

But I got more enjoyment out of watching them (and Kara and Artem) than I have out of any other couples on SCD ever

I've just loved Strictly this year because of the four of them and although I am gutted it wasnt an all girl final two this series for me will be remembered by their beautiful dancing.

Roll on the tour

I did a bit of a 180 on these two.

They couldn't have done anymore tonight, and if I had my way, they'd have finished runners-up.

Nice to see a positive thread. I enjoyed watching Pam and James too, and was so glad they were in the final. I think the right person won, but having 2 women of different ages and different styles in the final made it interesting. Well done to both of them, and thank you Pam for taking part.

They were very worthy finalists. Pamela was an excellent contestant and I'm glad they got that far.

It's a real shame they didn't get to do their AT. The whole format of the final was very odd. I feel they lost out.

Glad you put this thread up BG

I was a bit deflated and wasn't in the mood for posting.

James and Pam have been wonderful and really deserved their place in the final.

Perhaps they will do their AT on the tour.

Haha, me too! I nearly voted for Pamela and James, much as I wanted Kara and Artem to win, cus I really didnt want to see them go out third. I also felt Pamela would have gained more from winning than the other two (not for celebrity reasons, just personal esteem) and she didnt put a foot wrong tonight. Speaking of wrong-footing, it was quite moving to see the pro more nervous and be the one falling over their own feet. Bless James.

Having said that, Matt didnt put a foot wrong either. It was a shame we couldnt have kept all three in until the end really.

Maximum respect for Pamela and James, moving, delighting and outperforming throughout, not least for their discretion in not aiming for an injudicious showdance.

Two more four-10s to add to her other two four-10's. But still the audience did not like a musical old woman -- it appears not even old women like an old woman so there was no more Pamela could do.

Brava Pamela, Bravo James.

I so agree!!

Pamela danced beautifully. The fact that she is 61 is, in some ways, immaterial. She out-danced so many others years younger than herself.

Thank you for the thread, and thank you Pamela and James.

Thank you Pamela and James - for your wonderful dancing over the series and brilliant partnership.

Yep, they deserved their third place but deffo not the over marking almost every week from the biased judges. Im so glad that they never won but have enjoyed them together throughout the series.

James is happy - in the final after 5 years of trying!!
Pamela is happy - look at her new fame and especially her new figure!
The Big Yin is happy - wife in splendid trim and excellent humour.

Coming third in this series, with two gymnastic young uns as opponents, is a worthy achievement and I'll bet they'll be drinking to that tonight!

Good to see a positive thread about her. I was pretty torn between Kara and Pamela the last few weeks, but before Kara came into her own a few weeks ago, Pamela was my 'favourite' – even now she has the edge in my overall favourites of this year. But Kara deserved to win as she was a better all round dancer IMO (though when it comes to the slower elegant dances, Pamela tops it for me). Pamela was the better dancer tonight, such a shame she didn't get further, not least because I want to see her AT. And there you have it – for me, there is not another dancer in the competition this year whose coming dance I *wanted* to see.

I would have been happy for Pamela to win, because not only was she a good dancer 'for her age', she was a good dancer, regardless, and was streets ahead of everyone else in the competition (except over Kara during the last month or so, as Kara was rather wooden the first half of the series). She really done herself proud. In my opinion, if Pamela wasn't going to come first, she should of received second place tonight.

Pamela has received a lot of vehement, and unwarranted criticism in this forum, ranging through all kinds of daft and silly speculations, and sometimes just downright lies tinged with personal prejudice. People are entitled to their opinions, and for the most part, there were probably many reasons for this, but in their essence, most of them didn't amount to much more than just an irrational dislike of someone who was a bit different. Sadly, that's just the way some people are.

Out of all the dances and dancers this year, Pamela and James have many dances that will stick in my mind and ones I will re-watch on YouTube. They have been a joy to watch.

Now, I'm off to find ways to fill in the gap on a Saturday evening that Strictly has left

These were probably my preferred finalists since Tina and Jimi had both been booted out. Although I did secretly hope for a Kara and Pamela top two, despite Matt's strengths.

Pamela produced many stunning dances and I hope we get to see their AT someday...

Would have been happier to see them in 2nd but there we go.

My favourites in the first few weeks and produced dances I will enjoy watching. I will say her (in my eyes) affectedness grated before the end, but dance-wise, I enjoyed them.

I think they were the most joyful and warm couple this year too. Whether they remain friends or not....well, it doesn't really matter. They gelled for this period, each playing to their strenghs.

I really loved their partnership and I think it showed a much more tender side of James. Who would have thought we would have seen him ever shed a tear. Oh, sorry, I forgot he had.... 'something in his eye!'

Well done Pam and James. I would have loved you to have won, but you couldn't have danced any better than you did. A magic team. Merry Christmas to everyone. xx

They've been a highlight for me too.

I'm (just) old enough to remember Pamela in Not the Nine O'Clock News and always thought it a shame she gave up the limelight.

I think she and James made a great team, and it was always nice to see Billy supporting her in the audience.

I adored her VW last night.

I thought it was a bit... meh the first time round, but it was just beautiful this time.

Also, no stumble

She wasn't my favourite, but I still really enjoyed watching her dance: especially her show dance, which some people didn't like, but I thought she was elegant and it was lovely! (Maybe not the most original, but it showcased what she can do.)

Perfectly said, I agree entirely with that and couldn't have put it better

They have been a brilliant partnership, and it's been lovely to see James get so far in the competition, even though he didn't quite manage to equal Ola! She was the best dancer in the first half of the show last night, and I thought her showdance was miles better than the other 2, and the perfect finale to her time on the show with a story of her dances.

Roll on the tour, can't wait to find out what they're dancing!

TT- did you notice Katya had tears in her eyes at the end of it- it was clearly really emotional to watch live too.

BG- lovely thread! They should have been second based on last nights dances- shame they couldn't have done the AT anyway (why do the beeb never manage to get the final right?!)

I have really enjoyed this pairing the most- and then Kara and Artem- they have shown that you can enjoy the process and the partnership and convey that to the audience.

James has been spoilt this year!

I could quote just about all of these comments.

A fantastic partnership and the show dance, which has been derided on this forum, was a step back through their journey and show cased her dancing skill. Isn't that what a show dance should be?

I would have loved to see in the second part of the final as I think she deserved to be there.

Hey ho!! Roll on next September and the new lot!!

Thank you again, Pamela and James: you made SCD for me this year.

What a lovely thread!! They were my favourite couple throughout, although I'm happy with the final result, and I'm so glad they made the final - what a shame James couldn't have a glitterball to put next to Ola's!
