I have to say that over the past couple of years the BBC have, in my opinion, got rid of some of the best pro dancers. I believe they did this to bring in new blood, new ideas, more exciting and edgy choreography. Now, I'm not always convinced about Aliona's choreography - sometimes it's fantastic, sometimes not so great. She tries to do something new and different, something a bit edgy, something modern (the hip hop samba with Matt Cutler last year was an excellent example) and yet every time she does this the choreography, and her partner, gets slated by the judges.
If they wanted to keep Strictly traditional then why did they get rid of people like Ian, Matthew, Darren and Lilia - all great ballroom and Latin dancers? I'm not sure whether making the dancing more modern and funky is a good thing, but they can't have it both ways. Either they want something new and different and should embrace it, or stick to the traditional.
