'Well done' threads have a tone of their own that is usually respected.

So, now we have another "closed" thread type where people are apparently not allowed to have an opinion other that agree wholeheartedly with the poster.Pretty soon, we wont be able to post in any thread. There are appreciation threads for those that do not wish to hear anything other than what they want to hear.

Well done Matt & Aliona - I may be in the minority but I have watched their show dance a couple of times now and am surprised how good it was.

It was hard to take in on first viewing but Matt really danced it well.

Cloudy we're just asking you to respect board etiquette. You're supposed to get the tone of the thread from its title, so don't come crashing in with your socalled open ideas.

Have done a quick trawl of the tabloids, and even the one that was supporting Pamela did not trash the result but ran a nice piece on what Pamela had got out of it.

Basically this year's final much more satisfying than last year's when ........ but let's not spoil this year's story with anything negative. Kara a great sporting winner, Matt a superb runner up and Pamela a glorious third, who will milk her final x-perience with James for many years to come, until her family throw pillows at her to get her to stop.

It's a shame. A praise and then a nasty comment follows. Glad some forumites kinda put you in your place. Indeed, if Cloudy wants to comment about being desperate, Artem cried most of the time in the final. Will that be desperation to him/her? I guess if he/she is a Kartem fan, probably not.

Yawn. Hope you have a good Christmas.

And not wishing to delve into the mud, but I should say that Matt cried once back-stage only - that the footage kept being repeated was hardly his fault. He was bouncing around as happy as anything tonight, and very gracious in defeat.

Matt was a great contestant and a wonderful dancer.

So pleased for him - well done.

And well done to Kara too.

I adore Matt - really nice man, and comes over as very honest in his reactions.

Kara deserved to win though - I'm happy - it's all GOOOOOOOD.

So pleased to see Matt come second (was voting for Kara all season) he was great.

Yeah if he had been given Erin or Lilia he may have won but he got Alionia and I loved every dance they done and feel they worked very well as a couple.


What a great top two we got this year, thats what mattered - some wonderful dances and some wonderful entertainment, I'm just thankful Matt took part.

If Matt were to get Flavia, she would have won what she didn't do with the other Matt (Di Angelo)! I am sure of it!

Now, now ! SCD, while I think of you as one of the more balanced/fair posters here on D.S . . . . . You can not be serious, Flavia is wonderful to look at and dances very well (except in the Argentine, where she is as near to perfection as I know) but has suffered from the lack of assistance that Vincent offered whilst they were a couple, she lacks the skill needed of a choreographer at this level and should really have gone further with Jimmy this year who was top 4 material.

Matt has always impressed me. Of them all he has the natural physical gifts to be a truly great dancer - probably related to his extensive gymnastics training before reaching maturity. He also emotes fairly well in his performances - he tries to bring some "soul" to his dances.

Yet SCD is not a dance competition. It is a popularity contest in an entertainment genre known as "reality TV". Even if Matt would have made SCD his primary job (rather than another part-time job to go with the rest of his career activities) he may still not have won it.

So, overall, well done Matt and Aliona.

I liked all three couples in the final and whoever won would have been ok by me. But I do feel that had Matt been dancing with Natalie he would have won. I can't quite get some of Aliona's choreography.
Having said that Artem pushed Kara to the limit, so I guess the best couple did win.

I love Matt dancing. He has something different and special.

But also he comes across as a lovely young man.

I agree with all the positive things written here about Matt, too. He really comes across as a nice guy. But I also think he could have done better, for instance if he'd been partnered with Flavia. Still, well done to him for reaching 2nd place! Interestingly, it seems all Matt's on Strictly have reached 2nd place.

Well done to Matt, he did so well and had so many dances that were enjoyable to watch.

I have loved watching Matt and Aliona all through this series. I loved his AS, loved last night's Viennese Waltz, he and Aliona are a true class act. Well done to Matt and Aliona!!!

I think Matt was performed wonderfully throughout the series. I think Kara probably deserved to win the series, but I'd have been gutted if the judges had managed to keep Matt out of the final 2! I do wonder if we ever saw the best of Matt, though. Think of what he could have achieved if he'd had a better choreographer (or one that appealed more to the judges...), and if he'd been able to clear his diary for the whole competition. I think both Kara and Pam were able to do that, and even Kara acknowledged that Matt had had very little time to spend on his dancing until the end of the competition. But Matt was gracious in defeat, a gentleman throughout, and he gave everything he could to the show. Well done!

Matt was under marked and over criticized by the judges.

He was the only dancer who set out to dance as a professional. Every other celeb just tried to dance as well as they could. I think the judges didn't like that and marked his as a professional. Overall this series was the worst judged -they let themselves get carried away with their own importance and what the crowd thought..

Over all Matt was probably the best out there. Kara was slightly wooden at times and her free dance was all over the place with the ending a bit "Where am I?"

I am going to try and ignore post number 49 !!!!

I have always been completely honest from day one in saying that I am not a Matt fan for reason completely unconnected to dance and this competition, he was, as I would expect, very gracious in defeat and I am well and truely in the camp that thinks he would probably have been unstoppable with another partner or in another series.
