Maybe it is a case of not knowing the right thing to say or do?

Matt did get bad comments from the judges. eg. Len saying 'It's hardly worth mentioning.' after finding something very small wrong with his VW, and the other comments, which weren't delivered in a sympathetic way.

Matt was still heavily loaded with a bad cold in the final, which might have caused a bit of 'gapping' at the tropy ceremony.

But the big thing may be that Kara and Artem - everybody likes them a lot.

I noticed this, it was a very marked difference in responses to the couples.
