Kara's injury
Pentax20
19-12-2010
Been searching the news and blogs this morning to see if there's any news.....can't find anything so far. Certainly the pain was visible on her face last night. I wouldn't think she broke anything as the pain would have been too much to dance through (in my opinion).

As a young soldier I once had to finish an important parade with a broken toe and passed out (literally) as soon as I was off the parade ground!

I thought it might say on the BBC News this morning so am going to keep watching.

How silly was Tess, twice she grabbed hold of the arm/wrist. The second time even though Kara had said about not being able to straighten it. Each time it made me wince.

I was yelling at Tess (well, the TV) for that! I felt for Kara, she was trying so hard.

I have finished a dance with a broken scaphoid; it's amazing what painkilles and adrenaline can do. She looked like she had bruising across her hand which would suggest that it was more serious than a sprain.

I suspect that she's got a colles fracture, if you look at the photos you can see the forearm deformity, just above her wrist.

I can't find anything official either.

Now reported from the Press Association - they went to A&E, torn ligaments in the right forearm.

She did bloomin' well to carry on as this would weaken the arm as well as causing a lot of pain on movement.

You would think that the BBC would have their contestants insured, so in the event of injury they would be seen privately and quickly. I think it is a disgrace that after winning, she had to spend her victory night in A&E. I know even if she was seen privately she would still have to waste some of her time, but certainly not as long. When I went to A&E recently I had to wait 5 hours to be treated.

I heard another report that she went this morning. I doubt she 'spent her victory night in A&E'. I wouldn't read too much between the line from a press release. She may well have been treated privately for all we known.

To be honest, although I have no doubt that it was very painful, and I very much admire her fortitude at carrying on so well despite the injury, it was not anything life threatening and I'm sure that just getting sit down and not do anything for a few hours might have been a welcome relief after the hectic whirl of recent weeks.
