Cowell sees off his critics to secure Christmas No 1
Quote:
The internet campaigns aimed at stopping the 27-year-old decorator appear to have failed. The difference this year is simple: a credible song, 'When We Collide', sung by a likeable singer who can actually play an instrument. http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-en...1-2164308.html
The challenge to Cardle seems to have been weakened by the disparate novelty challengers this year, compared with last year's campaign around Rage Against the Machine's "Killing in the Name". |

No. The reason it failed is that there was no concerted, single campaign based around one single, relevant song. Christmas No.1 on the back of massive exposure via the X Factor is probably the safest bet in UK music. I'm sure my cat could release a single of 3 minutes of miaowing and it would reach the top spot if it had the backing of Cowell's media machine.

There's no stopping XF. Lovers can't snap out of it, Haters are obsessed with busting it, and not one tabloid or celebrity gossip magazine can refuse to report on it!

Loads of people supported RATM last year because they liked RATM, not because they particularly cared about the X Factor. None of the anti X Factor campaign songs got as much support this year simply because none of them were particularly good records in their own right. |

I cannot see a campaign ever being successful again. To do that you need to shift 500K units of a song and that is not going to happen unless everyone gets behind one song - which I don't see happening again

Agreed, I don't think the what the X Factor winners song was has anything to do with it. The difference is down to the songs that were trying to beat the X Factor.

Surfin Bird I'll give...it's utter utter pap, but you can't say that about the other 2!!!!! ...in my opinion of course!!!

God, he looks weird. His face seemed bruised and odd looking on X-Factor this year, but without the makeup on, he looks even creepier.
All that Botox may have ironed out the wrinkles on his forehead, but everything under the eyes looks pleated. |

I also thought that SC looked weird on the X Factor, particularly at towards the end. A sort of reptilian look

Cowell couldn't give a toss about the gullible public who are keeping him in a lifestyle we could only dream of, keep filling his bank account will you, money is tight at present and he needs it more than the poor UK public.
