The dance off has only ever been part of 3 series of Strictly (only brought in series 5) so what we have now IS what we know from 5 series.

Yes, I think they should. It would save good dancers at the expense of bad ones - I'm thinking specifically of the early exits of Tina and Jimi which might, I stress might, have been different had the judges had a say.

Yes Yes Yes Yes YES. Then we could have had a Kara/Pamela/Jimi/Matt/Scott/Tina/Patsy/Scott final. Well, probably not, but I can dream

I'd like the judges to make comments but not score the couples. After the public have voted the bottom two should then have a dance off with the judges saving one couple.

Yes, but only up until the week preceding the quarter final.

Therefore i didn't vote on the poll, as I wouldn't like to see it the whole way through.

I don't think there's an easy solution to the problem (if that's what you think it is) of good dancers that just don't connect with the public, but I don't think the dance-off was it.

I'm glad it's gone (the actual dancing bit was pointless/rarely changed the judges' already made up mind), but the problem remains...

If I ruled the world, I would try something mad like a 12 couple series where nobody would be evicted until the week before the semi-final, which would have 6 couples in it > normal final with 3 couples.

No. The dance off is boring and an unnecessary stress for the contestants.

To be honest, they might as well ditch the results show altogether. A five minute show later on the Saturday night would be fine, after X Factor. Just the line up and announce the results. We don't need the interview with the surviving couples and we don't need the lame dance troupe routines. The last five minutes of the results show is all that's worth watching anyway.

There have been some lovely pro demos in the results shows this year, but they've been few and far between (the foxtrot was my fave) and could be moved to the main show.

I Voted yes but with other changes. I'd like the judges to score but not count as half the score. Results would be based on viewer votes only and make Craig head judge as he's the only sane one on the panel.

The dance off makes the results show more exciting. I think the judges generally choose the best dancer.
This year, however, they seemed to have a fixation with keeping Pamela high on the leader board in spite of several clumsy performances. I guess this is irrelevant as she was never in the bottom 2, but it does make me wonder about the judges motives sometimes.

For the record, I thought Pamela danced well last night and justified her place in the final.

Nope, leave it out. The show is more unpredictable and less full of bad dancing without it.

No definately not for me, stops the judges picking their favourites, at least with the public it's our own fault if we get it wrong

Because The X Factor blinked first and moved later to avoid Strictly. If Strictly now moved later the BBC would be under fire (probably rightly) from those arguing they were being over competitive. The BBC had the opportunity to move Strictly later when The X factor was on early and declined to do it.

As for the dance off - I'd say no. It just encourages the anti-judge vote even further.

No. It is the public's show, not the judges. It's what made it so different to it's ITV competitor, and it's sad that they felt the need to increase the judges power to increase the drama.

With the dance-off, we've had the public rebelling against the judges, and ending up with mediocre winners in 2008 and 2009 as opposed to the most talented dancer. This year, they got the balance right, great contestants, fantastic dancing, and ALL down to us - and what a brilliant result. An awesome finale with worthy winners.

No, definitely not. The voting power of the judges and the public should be equal and not biased in favour of the judges.

I wish strictly wasn't on TV at all - I'm paying my licence fee for this crap.

Well I will disagree with you. It is the best in light entertainment. It beats the alternative on the 'lowest common denominator' Itv network.
