Was Matt the Paul Mercurio of Strictly?

I was struck by the similarities of the judging this season in SCD to the events of the film its namesake Strictly Ballroom.

The wiki entry for Strictly Ballroom[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strictly_Ballroom] describes:-

"His father never danced at the competition, because Barry [the judge] convinced his Mum the only way to win was to dance the conventional steps with their friend Les.

A furious Barry Fife [Len??] interrupts the performance and disqualifies them, but they dance anyway; finally, the music resumes and the couple's spirited dancing brings down the house. In the end, it is not revealed whether Scott [Mattt???]and Fran win or lose, as in the story, that is not an important factor"

Did real life imitate fiction this year?

I've noted the similarities between Len and Barry Fife before - if only he wore a wig as well!

I think in this case, Scott is more Aliona with the modern choreography agenda, and Fran is Matt - under the radar initially but with hidden talents.

It just seemed so apt when I read it - Barry is exactly as I see Len, opposing change.

When you footage from the 60's and 70's you can see how much dance has moved on - is Len capable of moving with it?
