as someone who lives not far from there and has to go there in a working capacity at times i have to agree...

to be fair i think the important part of her childhood wasnt necessarily the roughness of the estate but the fact that she was brought up by an absentee mother poor thing

I agree. I think it's the parental instability that's her real story. She went to a very nice grammar school, so no deprivation on that score...

Hear hear! I have a bit of a temper myself, so I always admire people who are as tranquil and composed as she always was. She was brilliant.

I'm so pleased for Stella. Chris was good, but Stella did a stellar job throughout the 12 weeks.

The Mail forgot to mention that 'disgusting piece of TV filth' Misfits is also filmed in Thamesmead. Therefore Stella by association inevitably hangs out in an orange jumpsuit with other dregs of society swearing and having inappropriate sex.

The movie 'A Beautiful Thing' about two gay lads was also filmed there, as was a drama called 'Out Of Control' which starred Tamzin Outhwaite as the mother of a teenage boy sent to a young offenders.

I know the area well and its bleak to say the least, but a good setting to use for tv and film.

Nathan from Misfits is hot though- however he is not fron thamesmead technically...
