I had never seen that in the final before, thought it was pretty poor taste considering they had both earned their place in the final.

Stella well organised etc but I doubt there will be many sparks of genuis from her

Having a go at Chris was very petty and showed no class.

Add that to her smug looks, and rolling of the eyes through out the series

It is business, not a popularity contest... though I must admit it was a little out of order.

Those comments should have been enough to lose her the job but then again so were a couple of her comments at interview last week.

There's no need to be petty and nasty to get on in business.

She was asked why she should get the job - and was giving her answer - Chris had the same opportunity to do the same.

She WASN'T "rolling her eyes" at Chris - they were BOTH repeatedly glancing at each other throughout the final boardroom stages,

Anyone thought that her "smug smile" was a way of trying to hide nerves? I know that I for one have been told that I tend to smile when nervous and it can be taken the wrong way.

Either way - she was (IMHO) the best candidate from week 2 onwards and deserved to win - and did so without resorting to stupid lies and swearing at the others. And in the final she showed us what Laura should have done with the squalling cats in week 2 and shut them up when they were all shouting at her!

I thought she'd thrown it away at that point. LAS doesn't usually care for those who launch negative personal attacks in the boardroom.

Tell that to some of the most successful business people.

What about the unprofessional behaviour of Chris when arguing with Stuart.

No doubt had that been Stella people would be using that as another excuse to beat her and have a dig.

Was it really wrong? She was in a one on one situation and contrasting her overt determination with Chris's more assured 'stiff upper lip' and self-controlled demeanour could have back-fired. Chris was such a 'droner' that it was easy to overlook him during the series. to me, it sounded like he was trying to sound 'posh' - which as the banks are full of a certain demographic that generally ensures 'money goes to money' - is a defence mechanism that those lower down the social order adopt. it made him sound like a public schoolboy - rather fitting for the politics course he dropped down from law to take. forget the colour of the ties, government is full of the privately educated and fitting in demands a certain chameleon approach.

as showed on the programme - you need to be exceptional to go from a comprehensive to a top job when there are grammar school and privately educated people ahead of you in the queue.
however - there are many people who don't start with a silver spoon and still make it - they just don't have the fast track of, for example, friends of mummy and daddy to provide their customers or other contacts.

the Chris's of this world tend to maintain the status quo, but it is the Stellas who have the chance to make change happen.

Yep, this is true.

It wasn't her finest moment but the stress must have been unbelievable so a little out of character behaviour is easily excusable.

I say out of character advisedly because Stella is someone who thinks things through and if she had been thinking clearly she'd have realised she was going down exactly the same path that got Paloma fired.

I agreed with Chris that Stella couldn't comment on his passion. If she wanted a go, then maybe go for his track record or something less personal and more tangiable because she doesn't have a leg to stand on with the 'passion' argument because how would she know what he feels.

However, saying that, I also agree with Chris that she should have stuck with the positives she would bring then trying to bring someone else down. It's just classier. It may be standard business practice, but it's also a TV show.

I thought it was a bit off, but it is edited highlights and there may have been qualifying statements, and we don't know everything that Chris said either. And maybe she genuinely felt that Chris was not all that serious about the job.

Stella was one of faves from the beginning, but she went down in my estimation when she did that.

Chris did well and, in my eyes, looked the bigger person, when he didn't retaliate.

The way Chris has spoken about Stella behind her back seemed to come from some deep resentment he had about her, so I wonder just how many times Stella has felt attacked by other candidates.

The way Liz came back from the boardroom that time announcing her criticisms of Stella, it sounded like she expected back-up and to add further fuel to the fire.

For her own good, maybe Stella shouldn't have voiced it infront of Lord Sugar, but the way Chris has spoken about Stella in the past, he kind of deserved it.

I think it may have been that final 'rant' as you put it, that actually swayed LS in Stella's favour. Think about it, all through the series she has continuously shown that she is not an argumentative person, that she keeps her cool in practically all situation and promotes the peace in the workplace. I do think Lord Sugar was looking for that business killer instinct that really Stella hasn't shown much of in the past. That final 'episode' whilst maybe taking a big risk, showed LS that when pushed she WILL fight back - and you need that in business.

I do think she let her emotions get the better of her though, but I think it's only an expression of how much she wanted the job. Think about it, she's never done that in the board room before - she must have really felt she had to.

Exactly, you said it all there, she was asked why she should get the job, not why Chris shouldn't, Chris was right to point out that, incidently Sugar was getting pissed off with it, if Chris had let her carry on she would have lost with that rant there.

I only once saw Chris glance at Stella, he was looking down most of the time, when Chris was speaking she was constantly rolling her eyes at him as she didn't agree with what he was saying, simply put she thought that she was better than him. She did the same the other week and got pulled back for it, she gave Liz the most vile look ever and that was shown back to Liz on YBF.

As to the incident where her team mates were squabbling, she took far too long to handle that situation, funny how Chris didn't have any problems like that, Stella chose a team where each member wanted to be boss.

I don't for one minute think either should have been in the final, Stella should have gone a few weeks ago and the final should have been Liz and Jamie.

You just have to realise that for any candidate there are going to be people who dislike them intensely.

These people have to find something to bash them with and as Stella didn't do much wrong this and the cool/corporate tag are all they can find to latch on to.

A big LOL to the people trying to make up excuses for Stella

Ah well, she isn't normally like that, so it is ok for her (and everybody deserved it anyways!)

Did laugh at Lord Sugar saying that she was great at people's management (perhaps she was very good at handling Nick and Karren )

ROFLMAO!

No one needs to make excuses for Stella.

She definitely went down in my estimation there, I felt sorry for Chris as it wasn't in his character to have a go back at Stella. I guess when people are desperate enough they will trample on anyone to get their way.

Could have done without it but was hardly a "rant"
