On SWTS he's doing nice. Much better than I expected.
But a V&T double act would be too much.

The Beeb should go for a Tom Bergeron type of presenter.
Bill Turnbull has been suggested by others, and I agree.

I quite like Vernon (smutty txts or not) but I think I would like to see him as a contestant on SCD rather than a presenter

Yeah right, with Tess teasing her husband perhaps secretly wanting to boink Aliona, his dance partner.

He's got such a dry wit and he adapted the 1030's musical Me and My Girl for the West End - so he's not entirely highbrow. In fact there's probably nothing about anything he doesn't know.

Love him.

Please please don't let this be true, him and his other half would be unbearable, both love themselves and think they are entertaining. Never had liked Bruce so no problem with him going.

Graham Norton would be good or Anton. Replace Tess with anybody, it would be an improvement.

I hope not.

I don't think I could stand two of them with their affected "northern vowel sounds."
Have you noticed Tess sometimes forgets to use them when she's excited, or is having to read the auto-cue quickily when they are running over time?

Vernon Kay? I'd rather see a re-incarnated Joseph Goebels presenting the show than him...

Not really a Brucie fan but....

Agreed! The only thing worse than Vernon Kay would be Barrowman!

How true! That did make me laugh I feel exactly the same!

I'm no fan of Vernon Kaye and definitely would hate him doing it if it meant another season of Tess.

I love Bruce but agree that he's past his best and would have done better to have gone a couple of years ago. He's still quick-witted and came over very well on ITT last week without the autocue, but he's been mostly awful this season.

I thought Graham Norton and Claudia did a fine job with that dire European dance thingy a few years back, and think they'd make a great team.

Edit: sharing the Stephen Fry love, Ignazio - I adore him - but he'd be so wrong for Strictly!

These shows need humour and the ability to be spontaneous, not an over earnest autocue reader. Just because Vernon is younger doens't mean he would be any better.

My choices would be Brian Conley or Graham Norton. Could live with Barrowman.”

easily the most sensible suggestion, so obviously it won't happen

His brother is already the floor manager so they could keep it in the family

I could not agree more.

oh god there must be someone more qualified - is Vernon Kaye really the best this country can come up with?

Not at all - the multi talented Mr. Fry is a chameleon - he can adapt from the highbrow to the ridiculous to the downright zany. He wouldn't need to break sweat to get the better of the panel.

I could think of many words to describe Mr Fry, but I'll settle for two.
Totally unsuitable.

We don't need a "Look at me!" host.
The job is more of that of a "continuity announcer."

You denigrate the multi talented Mr. Fry - his credentials are such that he doesn't need the 'look at me' attention so craved by others - including Bruce.

One automatically looks at him and gasps in awe.

Each to their own. I liked him in Jeeves and Wooster, but sadly, since then as do many others like him, he's become a caricature of himself.

Totally unsuitable.

Absolutely not. He would be dreadful...no-one would be as good as Brucie...apart from anton.

The idea of Vernon Kay presenting 'Strictly' makes me feel very queasy.
