The emotion in their faces is incredible. If it's all pretence, then these two deserve an Oscar for their acting abilities.

I agree with your choice of photo - though to be honest all of their photographs have been stunning. I don't think there is anything artificial or forced about either of them - you saw that in the tape that was shown on the final, with Kara in tears (bless her) and Artem saying how special it had been.
On BBC Breakfast Sian Williams kept poking them for information but I think Kara is very used to this type of questioning and managed to bat right back with a fun comment. It's really none of our business whether or not they are dating ! I hope they can get on with things in peace.
Kara did say that they are spending Christmas together at her parents house though, which I think shows you how much they do genuinely get on. It's such a tough process, training for Strictly, and Kara is a massive fan of the show anyway, that to come out the other end still friends with your dance partner is a big deal. And Artem has been incredibly tough on Kara ! All credit to them both for their win. As I said in my interview with Artem, everything has come together to create a 'perfect storm' for them. And how much they deserve it !

I like that analysis - I had been thinking along similar lines but that just sums it up. All the events and choices made during Strictly were like a perfect storm. And you could actually extend it back to even a year or so before that - so many events happening just to get them to that point.
And yes it is all a bit flat now. Having to wean myself off!

It's true actually - Kara, being a big fan of the show, was in the audience a lot last year, and she knows many of the pros very well. She thought she'd be paired with James Jordan because she knows him so well.
I think this year, we have to commend the process of pairing the celebrities with the pro dancers because they've done very well. Pamela and James were a perfect mix because Pamela is a strong person who is very secure and can handle volatile James, so that never blew into a nightmare.
And for Artem, being new he felt he had so much to prove and wanted to do so. His choreography is unquestionably excellent and what has struck me even more, is the way he has taught Kara. He has taught many people before in Hollywood, but worth keeping in mind that Kara is dyslexic and so she has a very different way of learning.
So not only was he out to prove himself as one of the new boys, he had to work with Kara in different ways to get the best out of her. He had to be inventive, he certainly had to push her at times and he's admitted how tough he is and how much of a workaholic he is.
All this and he admitted that he didn't know that in the American Smooth with a foxtrot base, the rules state that 40% of the dance should be in close hold. What staggers me here is not that he didn't know - none of the pros have done all the dances before - but that there was no support for him; no-one to ask, apparently. Strikes me as very tough, and Kara's suggestion of a 'rule book for Strictly' is a typically pragmatic one.
And I am missing It takes Two ! It's not fair that there is no after-the-final show - though I do understand that Claud is felled with the flu and needs to rest up. But one or two more shows..... maybe after the Christmas special or before the tour....

Cheryl, perfect assessments all the way. It's been a true joy to discover your site this year and I'm so grateful for all the images, articles and the great interview with Artem.
What you describe is what we all feel, I think, and Karen Hardy and Artem both said the same about Kara too - Artem says jump and Kara says how high? That's such a gift to a fantastic choreographer/teacher as Artem and testament to Kara's skill, determination and hardwork.

Looking at some of those pictures makes me wonder whether the BBC should release a DVD just of Artem and Kara's dances on the series.

i was quite disappointed with the Christmas Special. Apart from the smacker Kara planted on Artem!

My God! SCD is over now for another year. Another showmance for people to bore people to death with :yawn::yawn::yawn:. It was the same thing with Ali and Brian last year and look what happened to them.
It will be exactly the same again next year another couple will come along and people will jump on the bandwagon.
