Yet another film that just cannot be improved.
By coincidence i'm re-reading Carrie at the moment and i'm really looking forward to watching DePalma's version afterwards. |

Oh crap.
the original is in my top 20 films ever, it should not be messed with.Seriously though, rybev is totally right. How could the original film honestly be improved? Whoever thinks there is something so wrong with it that it needs to be made again from scratch is deluded. But it'll never work. No actress can quite capture the role like Sissy Spacek, she just was Carrie. Incredibly effective performance. Plus I don't think a story of oppression under Christian fundamentalism is a very good idea for a release at this point in time. |

I agree, top horror film, but we are all desensitised now, even when the hand comes out of the grave at the end it used to be OMG, now its WTF.
If we have to endure forever Horror remakes,What about the Exorcist ... please discount the Paranormal Activity jump movIies , lets go back to the Exorcist again ... it was based on a true story, Ouija Board an all, and who was Mr Howdey anyway? |

I agree with everyone
Nobody, and I mean nobody, will ever be Carrie other than Sissy Spacek. Carrie is one of them films that shouldn't be touched, it's not just a film, it's like a piece of art with the way it has been shot.

I agree too. Absolutely no point in re-making Carrie, or indeed the Exorcist. Is there no imagination left in Hollywood anymore?

Apparently it's now official that Chloe Moretz has been cast as Carrie.
She's tweeted something along the lines of "Thank you MGM for giving me a dream come true" Big mistake!!!!! With Let Me In and now Carrie, she could become the remake queen. |

Another remake? Sheesh, when it will all end? I heard they're remaking a new original film that hasn't even been made yet.

Surprised you know who hasn't entered the thread to post that a remake won't affect the original. He's right of course, but the very concept of remaking classics is a little grating now speaking as a cinema buff.

Why don't they do something more topical like a girl who exercises her psychic skills to electrocute anyone who touches their iphone to taunt her on farcebook.

Tut Tut another pointless remake. The only good thing to look forward to, is how appauling this new version will look, compared to the original 70's.
Take the bets now!! |

For gawds sake, I am sick to death of shitty remakes which are frankly embarrassing compared to the original - as for Carrie, do not f*** with a classic, nothing will ever beat it, Sissy Spacek and Nancy Allen were fantastic.

Oh! I misread the title as "another Corrie remake", referring to the upcoming 3D big screen version of the popular soap, where they spectacularly condense 60 years worth of drama into a lean 89 minute running time. Adapted by Simon Beufoy and Lee Hall, Mike Newell directs.

Oh great, a Carrie that will doubtless be full of shitty 'R n B' on the soundtrack, just what the world needs

She's done far more than remakes to be fair.

I'm looking forward to this!
Loved the TV remake which they sometimes show on True Entertainment and also loved The Rage: Carrie 2 so this remake should be good. |
