Twin cable - Single tuner?
Firstly - apologies if this has been covered previously - I'm sure it has - but I have searched without success so here goes.
I am in SW France and have just installed a Humax Foxsat HDR+ 500GB. This is fed from a 90cm dish by two 30m cables from a universal quad LNB providing a Signal Strength of 85% and Quality of 90% using a Brighton Postcode. After a few false starts mainly to do with "Invalid Postcode" and resorting to manual tuning to some 450+++ channels I sought help from this forum. I discovered the RGYBGYB secret menu - checked the settings and found that it had only registered a single cable. I corrected that to [Two cable (Different)] and then looked at "Satellite Setting" and saw thay under "Tuner" it had [Tuner 1 (Fixed)]. My box has twin tuners - is this setting correct? Also I may have inadvertently changed transponders so I selected the nearest one to the recommended transponder of 11428H 27500A and after a Freesat Tune have 166 channels. Does all this sound right? The only reason I ask is that sometimes when I have two (or more) programmes set to record (not actually recording) I am extremely limited in what I can view. I have read all about polarisation, frequencies and transponders but that doesn't always seem to apply to my limitations. Otherwise it"s great. Many thanks to all those who give their time and expertise to help we lesser mortals. |

The correct setting is two cables(same). What signal strength/quality does manual tune report when set to 11428 H (might be 11427 H) ?
166 channels is about right. |

Thanks for the prompt response. Yes, the transponder setting is 11427H. The Signal Strength on Manual Tuning is the same S85% Q90% I changed the cable setting to "Two Cables (Same)" and after around 30 minutes searching for a satellite signal it failed to find it although during the search the SS & Q bars were showing strengths varying from 50% - 100% and the Quality from 20% - 100% At one point they were both reading 100% - strange stuff eh? Anyway for now I returned to the "Two Cables (Different)" and everything re-tuned OK I also now have six programmes set to record over the next 7 hours and when I "List" it appears that every channel is available to watch - something that rarely happened before. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again. |

Now tune to a selection of other channels and press pause. You should be able to live pause any other channel. |

Two cables connected correctly - centre socket LNB1 Out not used.
108 recorded - 109 recorded - no other channels available. All "greyed out" on listing - would not select. |

108 recorded - 109 recorded - no other channels available. All "greyed out" on listing - would not select. Try recording just 108 and viewing 143 and vice versa to confirm. Then swap the lnb feeds to see what happens. My bet now is the 2nd lnb connection is faulty (may be the centre core is bent and not in the centre hole) |

Sorry for tardy response - been away.
Checked cable connections at back of box - OK. Reset to Factory settings. Reinstalled from scratch - system recognised two cables - found 166 channels. Everything now seems to be hunky-dory. Gremlins banished. Many thanks Graham. |

Open this htm file in your browser for a full list sorted by transponder (you should be able to identify what's missing) http://www.4shared.com/document/baZ3...icMK2_011.html |
