At one point Vangelis was going to replace Rick Wakeman as keyboards for Yes... but it never happened.

Jon is one of my very favourite vocalists, along with Paul Rodgers, Barry Hay and Robert Plant.
Yes are set to do some shows soon, with Steve Howe, but without Jon. That's like Queen without Freddie, to me. Amazing, beautiful, heart-rending voice. |

Met Jon at one of his shows a couple of years back. A really humble guy. I got him to sign a not so well know Jon and Vangelis cd. As I handed it to him he looked quite sad, but he said that it was one of his favourites he did with Vangelis. The album is Private Collection and is almost worth the price alone for the last track.........True Horizons.
Their earlier stuff was actually improvised. It was refered to at the time "Spont-Rock" They did have a falling out with regards to a J&V cd re-release called Page Of Life and have never done anything together since..........shame. |

Amongst all these guitars, organs, and other musical instruments we sometimes forget that the greatest of all is the human voice.
But trying to do it on tour night after night, must take a great toll. Luckily Jon does nt have to strain his voice but for the harder rock guys.... it must take some doing go here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIoBo...eature=related ( whos that guy who sang.... Run to the Hills ? ) |

Agree about Jon, brilliant voice. I saw YES live 6 times in the 70s. I wonder why you don't hear anything from Jon now?

It's the same when Genesis tried replace Phil Collins with Ray Wilson, it just didn't work. (Some would argue that replacing Peter Gabriel with Phil didn't work - but they are wrong.. )
