Just started (finally) Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer, the first in the Last Survivors trilogy. <Many thanks Suzanne>
It's classified as Young Adult and the protagonist is a 15 year old girl but so far (chapter one) it is engaging and intriguing.
Recently finished Fake Kate by David Wailing. Can't make my mind up about this - a book of two halves. The first two-thirds is pretty standard chick-lit (that's not a criticism) and then the last third goes off in another direction. I don't want to spoil it for others so I won't elaborate. Suffice it to say I was enjoying the chick-lit and got thrown when it changed direction - it also felt a bit rushed, almost as if someone ese wrote the last third. Anyway, it was a Kindle freebie and set in London.
Also read 50 Ways to Hex Your Lover by Linda Randall Wisdom. Another Kindle freebie, this time about a witch with an on-again/off-again relationship with a vampire. She drives a taxi for supernaturals and removes curses as a sideline, he is a vampire PI. Together they investigate the mysterious disappearance of lots of vampires. Good plot, interesting characters. a light amusing mystery and I would definitely look at others in the series.
Finally, read Remix by Kexi Revellian also a Kindle freebie. A light romance/mystery story (again set in London) which was pleasant enough.
