Never Let Me Go by Kazua Ishiguro. I've had it for ages and have put off reading it worried I'm going to be disappointed. So far so good.

Pluto Confidential by Stephen P. Maran

Quote:
“When the International Astronomical Union adopted a new definition of ""planet"" in August 2006, Pluto became a dwarf planet, drawing a divisive line in science and public opinions. The controversy of whether Pluto is a planet continues later, pitting scientist against scientist and invoking sentiments and nostalgia from the rest of the world. Written by two rewnowned astronomers on opposing sides of the debate, Pluto Confidential leaves no perspective out and no asteroid unturned in the Pluto debate.”

I still believe in Pluto as a planet, and nothing is going to convince me otherwise *stamps foot*

Well contrary to my last post here, I didn't start either of the books that I meant to, I came down with the flu and thought I'd have an easy read more importantly with big print as my eyes went a bit screwy (shhhhh anyone who suggests that that would match my brain ). Anyway, I'm nearly finished Kathy Reichs' "Bare Bones", as enjoyable as all the other books she has written! I've never actually watched any of the series Bones, but the ads I have seen never seem to match the books I have read or my interpretation of them. When I've finished the series I might have a watch of the tv series and see what I think.

Just over half way through "The Terrible Privacy Of Maxwell Sim" by Jonathan Coe. A great return to form IMHO, I am loving it.
I have read and loved all of his books but I couldn't finish his last one "The Rain Before it Falls" far too much unneccessary descriptions and characters I just didn't seem to care about.

"Nightflyers" by George R. R. Martin.
"Where they're going isn't a mystery; what's taking them there is . . ."
I'm reminding myself what a brilliant SF writer GRRM was before he started writing about beardy blokes with swords.
The sooner he gets off this detour the better.

I didn't realise he has a newish one out. I really enjoyed What a Carve Up so I'll put that on my wish list.

Genesis by Karin Slaughter ..... not sure yet. It hasn't grabbed me in the first chapter like many of her others.

No, I made the huge error of not checking the order of the series. Once I started reading I realised there was a book before this one, but I was on a train with nothing else, and I'm now too engrossed to give it up and start again with The Surgeon! I will go back and read it though even though I've spoilt the ending for myself.

I read Vanish in the Rizzoli and Isles series a few years ago and really enjoyed that one too, so I'll probably end up working my way through her back catalogue!
