Limitless - Alan Glynn.

Want to watch the film but after I've finished the book.

The Snowman, by Jo Nesbo. 3/4 of the way through, and trying to get away from Scandinavian crime novels, as I feel I've overdosed on these this year. They are very addictive!

Maybe one more, as waiting for the new Sebastian Barry to be delivered, so some respite for a while at least.

The Kraken Wakes by John Wyndham, for the umpteenth time, but this time to my two girls 8 & 10. I am hoping to engender a life long love of his work in them.

I know, that's the problem But I adored the TV series, and I don't know if I'd love it so much if I read the books first. But then, chances are I'll get spoiled if I don't, so...

Finished Brian McGilloway's "The Rising". A well plotted police procedural but does raise issue concerning policing north and south of the border.

Oh snap, I'm reading that too.

Except I've already seen the film

I finished The Remains of the Day last night and it was wonderful. I love how he writes, Never Let Me Go is probably the best book I've read this year

How are you finding the book? I'm enjoying the story, but I find I'm glossing over quite of lot of it where he is explaining his new found knowledge on various subjects. And I totally zone out when he's explaining the stock market!!!!!!

Major Pettigrew's Last Stand by Helen Simmonson - not really enjoying it as it's a bit twee but it's okay and I don't like giving up on books unless they're really, really bad!

Lonely Hearts by John Harvey.

I don't care who killed these women.... I just want it to be over.

I have been reading this book for 2 weeks and find it totally uninspiring.

Hello, I'm new to this forum, I love reading and read most genres apart from Biography, I've just discovered Robert Goddard and finished In Pale Battalions last night, very good.

It's great when you find a new author that you like and see that they have a HUGE number of books to read! The only trouble I find with Robert Goddard is that generally the titles aren't memorable and I nearly always have to read the blurb to know if I've read it or not and which one it was. My favourite of his is still the first one I read which was Past Caring.

I do the opposite !

I carry a list of all the books I have read by my favourite authors to avoid duplicates.

I love Robert Goddard. Try Never Go Back and Long Time Coming .... my faves

I have a list too! If anyone on here recommends something or I hear a book mentioned several times I have to write it down in a notebook or I'll instantly forget!

I do get some funny looks in the library though and one librarian said i was 'very organised aren't you' (raised eyebrow). I didn't have the guts to tell her I also check the library website first to make sure it is in stock

I do too, I put them all on a database once and the computer crashed and I lost my list - I was gutted as I had thrown out the paper copy.

Now I just keep a list in a book.

btw Robert Goddard is my fave author too, my fave book is Into thr Blue

Thank you, I use the library website for ordering new books - saves me a fortune in buying them, although sometimes there is a bit of a wait between ordering and receiving, but it still saves a fortune instead of buying

I'm not very far in yet, I'm about a chapter into part 2 so I think he'll be into the stock market soon. I'm enjoying it and finding it quite readable when I do pick it up (which is only hampered by the fact I've just started a new piece of writing of my own which is occupying my mind!). The one thing I do find odd is how slow it is - I get that the writer wants us to realise the effects of the drug, but I really didn't need to know how he tidied his flat in quite so much detail!
