Hi, newbie to forum.

Am reading Jodi Picoult, House Rules. Usually like her but am finding this one difficult to get into. Will persevere as I don't like to abandon a book once started. Have only ever done this with Lord of the Rings which I just could not get into, although I loved The Hobbit.

Finished a few good ones recently
The Corrections by Johnathon Fratzen, Really good, I read Freedom just after Christmas, so was keen to give this a go and really enjoyed it.
Just finished A visit from the Good Squad by Jennifer Egan, it's a mixed bag, but overall I would say I enjoyed it.
Now I'm reading The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay by Michael Chabon, it's a hefty book over 600 pages of smallish text, and I'm only 100 through but enjoying it thus far.

I've just read both 'The Blood Detective' and 'Blood Atonement' in quick succession and would definitely recommend them to crime fiction fans.

I found the genealogical angle interesting and original - makes a change to have a genealogist involved rather than a criminal profiler /psychologist.

'A Walk in the Woods' by Bill Bryson - about his hike along the Appalachian Trail in the U.S.

I love his books they always make me laugh.

I'm about to start reading At Home (A Short History of Private Life).

I'm reading "Quantum" by Tom Grace, thriller, espionage and general mayhem. Great read.

I've read that I love his books too, the Europe one 'Neither Here Nor There' is my favourite, I remember being in stiches reading it

House Rules is a brilliant book - I couldn't put it down. Keep with it because it's so well written and heart felt.

I'm a bit of a newbie to this books forum. I'm not reading anything at the moment, I've just finished a Diane Chamberlain book The Lies We Told.

How did you find the book in the end?

I finished it today,found it a bit of a dissappointment if I'm honest,I couldn't seem to care about the main character and his predicament,he came across as a bit whiney,and I thought it was all a bit obvious,shame as I have enjoyed his other offerings

What did you think of it?

This was the second Linwood Barclay book that i have read and with both i found that the started off really good. I couldnt put them down and then by the end too many so called twists and it just came to the point where you just wanted to get to the last page.

What are you reading now?

Just finished re-reading The Persian Boy by Mary Renault, I read it a few years ago and was fascinated by the story of Alexander the Great. I'm now on the second part of the Millenium trilogy The Girl Who Played With Fire, I love the character of Lisbeth Salander, she just don't take no sh*t !!

Just finished Alan Carr's 'Look Who It Is'

Next I'll start A Clash of Kings by G.R.R.M

Yes I've read The Thunderbolt Kid.
I've been working my way steadily through his books and 'At Home' and 'Neither Here Nor There' are next.
His books are hilarious!

I am reading an old Martina Cole just now. Just to get me through on my next book arriving from Amazon, one of my faves Barbara Vine.

I am reading Mary and Elizabeth by Emily Purdy - its a Tudor fiction book. I love reading books set in that era - am a big Phillipa Gregory fan!

Ooh, I liked this one ... better than 61 Hours anyway. Next book by Lee Child will be spoiled for me as I will be imagining the ridiculous Tom bloody Cruise as reacher

Sshh!!,I have been reading,and saying to myself"Yeah,imagine Tom Cruise doing that!!"bloody man,urgh!!,cant see the scene in the marriot parking lot working with Cruise,lol
Its very good so far though.

I read miracle cure back along,Harlans definately improved greatly,no?,I do love Harlan Coben though,I share books with my brother all the time,and I have been pushing Coben on him for ages now,he didn't used to go days without reading,but he was in hospital after an accident last year,and he hasn't picked up a book since he came out,I'm getting really annoyed with him now because I know he will love Coben,especially Win and Bolitar

Another vote for the stupendous GRRM. I'm onto the 2nd half of A Storm of Swords. Absolutely loving it. Also just finished Dorothy Wordsworth's Grasmere Journal.

A Visit from the Goon Squad - not read enough of it yet to know whether I will like it or not.

Just started the third George R R Martin book - A Storm of Swords.

I'm really like Tyrion the dwarf the most, although I'm sure you're not supposed to!

I really look forward to the Tyrion and the Jaime chapters. The only characters whose chapters I find a bit flat are Catelyn and Davos. Could just be me. Am starting to love Jaime too, despite his bizarre thing for Cersei.
