"The Case of Charles Dexter Ward" by H. P. Lovecraft.: even creepier than I remember from the first time around.
One of very few HPL stories to be filmed reasonably well ("The Resurrected") and badly ("The Haunted palace").

Thanks to getting a new phone with Android, I am able to get the kindle e-books on my phone. I am currently reading a great set of stories by Amanda Hocking called My Blood Approves. If you like vampire stories like Twilight, Vampire Diaries etc. you will love this! There are four books in the series so far and i'm totally hooked so much so that i've abandoned Harry Potter which I was halfway through.

'Shatter the Bones' by Stuart MacBride. Sadly I think it'll be my last McRae book I'm not too impressed and the storylines are now beginning to get tedious and somewhat nonsensical.

Just started "A Week in December" by Sebastian Faulks. Not had time to get into it yet but suspect once I get a spare hour will struggle to put it down.

Finally finished Ken Follett's Pillars of the Earth. I enjoyed it but I'm not sure I understand what all the hype was about. It was a pleasant historical romp which told me a little bit more about a period of history that I was not familiar with.

For me it was less about the historical period and more about the characters - being totally outraged by the bad guys and waiting for poetic justice!

Just completed The Passage which totally lived up to the hype and am now reading the much talked about Room by Emma Donahue.

Oi Oi Sid

I recently finished the Keith Richards autobiography. A curious book by a very curious guy. One minute you're applauding the clarity of his insight then you turn a page and think he's completely clueless and childlike. In among it all is a very personal account of the Stones and the man himself.

I'm currently 1/3rd of the way through the Prostate Years; the latest in the Adrian Mole saga. Talking of insight, few writers come anywhere near Sue Townsend for consistently hitting the nail on the head - not just here and there but time and again on every page. I hesitate to use the "G" word - suffice to say I think she's completely brilliant and right up there with the very best British authors.

Enders Game, I know it's probably teen novel and I'm, sadly, an adult but it is a surprisingly good read
