I have heard this from the reviews as well though, and everyone says stick with it as it gets going eventually.”

I finished reading Are We Neary There Yet? a few weeks ago. It's a brilliant book and have not seen one negative comment against it.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Are-We-Nearl...9663299&sr=8-1

I think the Kindle version is on offer this week for only 99p.

I'm currently two thirds the way through Lee Child's Die Trying (Jack Reacher #2). I have to admit it's not fast paced as Killing Floor and given it's set over five days. It does drag it's feet a bit but has now become interesting.

It was absolutely brilliant! I wish it had been longer.........

I don't know what to read next though....

I'm half way through Sovereign by CJ Sansom. It's the third in the Shardlake series. So far it's very very good and it's keeping me from doing things I should be doing which is always a good sign

Finished reading Afraid by Jack Kilborn, I really enjoyed it and thought it was a riveting read, couldn't put it down. I also didn't think it was disturbing as people pointed out on the other thread.

Am now reading "Trapped" by the same author.

Wedlock - How Georgian Britain's Worst Husband Met His Match by Wendy Moore

This biography of Mary Eleanor Bowes tells of how she was trapped in a brutal marriage to Andrew Robinson Stoney.

Literally just managed to read the first few pages on the train this morning but the amazon reviews for this book are great.

Cool, thanks for the advice

No, haven't seen the film. Have you?

Just finished All I Want For Christmas by Amy Silver, a relatively new chick-lit writer. And it was good, really good. Plent of warmth and humanity without being sickly sweet or too christmasy. Similar style to Adele Parks and Jane Green.

About to read Coming Home by Melanie Rose next. Needless to say, my reading isn't particularly high brow at the mo!

Not seen the film yet but want to - have heard mixed reviews about it.

No! I picked it up at a book fair for £2, never heard of the author before. Both characters annoyed me quite a lot in it so I'm not sure I'd seek them out.

Mr Norris Changes Trains, by Christopher Isherwood. Although I have seen the film A single Man (which I loved), this is the first Isherwood I have read. I like the slight quirkiness of this book so far, and it's giving me a good sense of time of '30s Berlin.

It's RR writing as Barbara Vine. I really like this book which has a very intriguing plot and interesting characters and is my favourite Vine. I also enjoyed The Brimstone Wedding.

The Last Werewolf.

The journal of a reflective werewolf who is not only the last of his kind but is a bit of an anomaly in that he hasn't lost touch with human language (far from it!).

Great fun.

I finished Twilight of Avalon last night (Anna Elliott).

I really thoroughly enjoyed it. The one review on Amazon only gives it one star but I wonder if the reviewer expected it to be like the Twilight novels. It was quite slow-paced but I liked that and I think the subject matter (a reworking of the Tristan and Isolde legends) benefited from the time taken to create the world it was set in.

I should really ask for part two of the trilogy for Christmas but I'm not sure I can wait that long

Anyway, going to read either Chocolate Cake with Hitler next or When We Were Orphans.

Cool. I'm not a big film-watcher...I like books more (haha, bet you'd have never guessed that!).

Started reading We Need To Talk About Kevin now. I'm liking it already!

Bulldog Drummond by Sapper. Quite an old fashioned book, but hardly suprising for the era in which it was written. Enjoying it immensenly so far.
