I finished Chocolate Cake with Hitler by Emma Craigie earlier. I sort of enjoyed it. It was like a less annoying Boy in the Striped Pyjamas in that what happened in the book did actually happen (largely). I never knew the story of the Goebbel children before so that was an eye-opener.

I think I'll start When we were orphans tonight.

Finished Trollope's "At Framley Parsonage". As a stand alone novel the general reader would son lose in the vicar's predicament .. but its a rich addition to the chronicles of Barsetshire

You'll love Revelation, it's definitely the best of the Shardlake series. I just finished Heartstone and although very good, it's not as exciting as Revelation or Sovereign or Dark Fire

Currently I am reading the Patrick O'Brien classic that is Master and Commander, a read that I am thoroughly enjoying.

Well I finished Sovereign and it was a really excellent book. Very well written and totally gripping! Now I just have to wait until I can afford another little book-buying spree so I can get Revelation. Thanks for the recommendation, it will make the anticipation even better

I'm now having a bit of a change and reading Jasper Fforde's "The Last Dragonslayer", it's aimed at a younger reader, so I'm reading it to see if it's pitched at a good level for my daughter. I love Jasper Fforde's books so I don't want her to read his book til she's old enough to get the full benefit of it. She makes me laugh, she sees all my books as her future library!

Very true. Plus I like having my own images in my head, not some directors idea of what they think the characters should look like.

I haven't watched a film in months either!

Finally finished 'We need to talk about Kevin'. Can't really work out how I felt about it really. It was absorbing, and I had to keep reading to the end but it was just so dark and depressing, but I can't really criticise it for that because I knew what I was getting!

I knew what the 'twist' was because some silly fool on Amazon strongly hinted as to what it was in a review. So maybe that spoilt it a bit.

Now reading 'The Bestseller' by Stephen Leather, which I put to one side and have just started up again. Really enjoying it so far, more so than 'The Basement'.

Just bought 'You're Next'. It's been on my wishlist for months, but I've decided there's no point waiting for it to drop in price to 99p so took the plunge!!

Very funny book, and perfect characterisation. Poor little Bertie and his dungarees will always stay with me McCall Smith certainly knows how to evoke a sense of place.

For something completely different, reading Grotesque, by Natsuo Kirino.

I loved those books, thought they were great fun.

I've been reading a lot of teen series recently, and although there's nothing wrong with that, I was feeling the need of something a bit more grown up, so now I'm reading Owen Sheers' Resistance, which I'm loving. It's been on my to read shelf for over a year and I just never fancied it before.

Small Man In A Book - Rob Brydon

Very enjoyable, but it does irk me this modern trend to release a biography that only goes up to a certain point in the subjects life, thus paving the way for a second tome and more £££
