Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Decided to re-read all the HP books, which I still enjoy.

Next up (apart from free books on my Kindle) is the Shakespeare detective series by Charlaine Harris, which I got for Christmas.

Fantastic, I've never read anything quite like it ...

Non-fiction I'm reading No One Here Get's Out Alive, a biography of Jim Morrison. It's great reading, if a little clinical at times. I have Dear Boy (about Keith Moon) on the pile aswell.

In terms of fiction, I've got Pygmalion on the go (I love reading plays) and today I bought Brighton Rock and Breakfast At Tiffany's.

Pompeii by Robert Harris - am really enjoying it, and can't decide between the desire to press on and find out what happens, and the desire to ration it a bit and prolong it.

The House of Silk - Anthony Horowitz. It's a 'new' Sherlock Holmes. Was given it for Christmas and wasn't sure at first, but it's turning out to be really good.

That's always a difficult one isn't it, I've just finished a lovely little book by James Patterson called Sundays at Tiffany's, couldn't put it down at the end, now I'm bereft because it's finished.

"Cities of Dreams" by Stan Gooch. Gooch presents evidence for his theory of a Neanderthal civilisation spreading across Europe & the Middle East, echoes of which can be found in the taboos of modern humans.

"In Mayan Splendor" by Frank Belknap Long. Poetry from a member of the Lovecraft Circle.

Just finished CJ Sansom's Revelation, the 4th Shardlake book. It was an excellent read.

After the tensions of Revelation, I'm going to have a light read and I'm re-reading Tom Holt's "The Portable Door". It's one of my favourites of his.

"The Corrections" by Johnathan Franzen. Enjoying it. Quite a tome.

Before that I read 'Jamrach's Menagerie' and I have to say I didn't get all the hype.

About Last Night by Adele Parks.

So far, not that impressed. Too descriptive and detailed and waffly. I'm surprised Parks doesn't inform the reader each time one of her characters goes to the bog.

Just downloaded this to my Kindle. Although why I would want to set myself up to being bereft is the question!!!

Finished Robert Harris's "The Conservatives". A vague analysis of the origins, good on Salisbury through to Heath, glides over Thatcher (keping powder dry for his biog of MT to be published after her death) muddled on Major through to Cameron. Poor effort.

I'm a third of the way through The Stand by Stephen King. I first read it 20 odd years ago and had forgotten most of it so I thought I'd give it another go. It's definitely a page turner.

Finished The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society which was great fun if a little twee.

No on to Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand which is a bit of a tome but I've been meaning to get round to it for a while now.

Finished Arnaldur Indridason's The Draining Lake. This is developing into a superlative series in the crime genre. Fantastic story telling and excellent character development.
