So what food-related pressies did you get?

I got:
A large sea salt grinder
A subscription to BBC Good Food Mag
2 x 101 Recipe books (BBC Good Food) one of which I have already!
A set of loose bottom tartlet tins
Herb kitchen garden
Kenwood Mini Chopper
A bottle of gin!

So I'm a very happy bunny indeed. Some of the above were on my wish list but a lot weren't so it's good that my family know me well enough to get me kitcheny and cooking things!

I gave my dad a bottle of Bell's

I'm getting a pizza stone and a granite mortar and pestle. Just need to get around to ordering them off eBay.

It's a must. I got incredibly sharp Japanese kitchen knifes from my brother so will soon be short of the legal number of fingers.

Jealous. Can't wait 'til the day I can afford a food processor.

Really want a pestle and mortar too.

I've waited years for that, so it's long over due!
I'm about to make you even more jealous as I already have a pestle and mortar

Or will they also have an instance of DragonDictate running?

I bought a hand blender earlier in the year. I wish i'd waited and saved up a little bit more to buy a food processor/mixer with the attachments for dough.

The hand blender does have the attachments but you have to stand and hold it rather than leave it to it.

That reminds me, it is important to get a granite one rather than marble - marble reacts with acids like lemon juice but granite doesn't.

It's more for the abrasive quality. I have a wooden one at the moment and it's not great. Just moves things around the edges.

Yea, granite creates more friction, but I normally add in a pinch of rock salt to help with that too.

I haven't received all of my presents yet but I've got a couple of cookbooks (Africa/Middle East-themed) and some baileys.

I'm sure a JD fan would be more happy with a small pack of fudge and a large bottle of JD

I got a baking cookbook (it looks amazing, I'm excited) and some animal biscuit cutters so now I just need to find somebody who'll appreciate elephant shaped biscuits
