Younger contestants?

It is really good that they have older contestants on this year who are >60, >70 or even aged 83.

But what about having younger people on?

They have hardly ever had any teenagers on or people in their early 20s? What about people who are the age of One Direction?

Tom Daley is 17 i think and he would be a perfect candidate for SCD especially paired with the lovely Ola might be busy preparing for the 2012 olympics though sadly

One of my all time favourite contestants on Strictly was the lovely Louisa Lytton....I think she was 17yrs old at the time....Weirdly it seemed strange to have someone so young on the show....and dancing a Foxtrot or Waltz...No idea why I thought that....but I did.

A shame for Louisa, because if she had entered the show at a later date, when she was just over 20 or so, surely her great natural talent allied to more exposure on TV, plus the extra dancing maturity of someone slightly older, surely she might have won the show...

I didn't know her when she was on the show because i don't watch Eastenders which i think?, she was in but, i really warmed to her, she was so enthusiastic, her pairing with Vincent was great and i was really sorry when she went.....

She's the only person I can think of though, who is really young.

There have only ever been four contestants younger than 25 at their time on the show - Louisa, Matt di Angelo, Chris Parker, and Jaye Jacobs.

Only 4 under 25yrs of age....this somewhat supports the OP.....I really thought there would have been a few more younger contestants......The BBC are certainly missing a trick here....I`am sure there are quite a few younger celebs who would love to appear on the show.

They could have a Junior SCD like they had a Junior Apprentice show. It could last for say 6 to 8 weeks. The only problem is finding the pros.

Tom Daley and Lacey Turner would be perfect younger contestants. Rebecca Adlington too.

Do we need another Bonnie Langford?

and it's no good picking "active" sports people with 2012 coming up.

We could have had an active sport teenager last year of 2008, but just one year before the Olympics is pushing it.

The trouble is, younger celebs tend not to be known by what the BBC perceive as their target audience, so we don't get them. The girl who played Ian Beales daughter, Rochelle Wiseman, Kara Tointon's onscreen EastEnders brother and Peaches Gelfof would be interesting maybe.

Peaches Geldof?

Only famous for being a complete waste of space.

Talk about barrel scraping!
