I'm a woman, an Oxbridge graduate, far from a chav, and and Victor has won the debate hands down. Shell, OTOH, has won the emotional support of stupid tarts and irrational women. Sad, but the winner doesn't get the most votes.

Shell is (like Eddie the Eagle), a pathetic, useless hopeless lost cause, she plays the whining victim to the full, but being a small, blonde bimbo, pity (and lust) is a stronger motivator than an abstract admiration for intellectual superiority.

One reason is that one might do this (I say from personal experience) is that he is arguing a case that he recognises has a hole in it and he's laughing that the opposition hasn't pointed out the flaw (- it's a debate, not a personal argument). Another is that he has a completely watertight case and the opposition are making fools of themselves, and he just wants to say "stop digging". I have been there too, and personally that makes me laugh more.

If you have emotional detachment it makes you appreciate the irony and the ridiculous in any argument.

Vic is kicking himself for kicking off. Shell is apologising for losing her temper and using the c**t word. They are both acting rather sweetly. Vic knows she is the worst person to argue with, and says (to himself) why did he do it!
