Hi

I am new to freeview + having just bought the box and plan to surrender my Sky subscription. I notice that there are fewer free to air channels available on freeview+ than with Sky+. Anyone know why this is and how can I source the missing ones that are not part of any Sky subscription service?

Thanks

I take it you meant freesat+ not freeview+ ?
You will need to perform a manual tune on your box, and if you are using the Humax box once this has been done the box will be in non-freesat mode. It will be necessary to switch back to freesat mode to make use of the epg.

What does epg mean? I can maually retune and found lots of other channels, some free to air, will the box work normally in manual mode?

Thanks

epg electronic programme guide. (no epg only now and next in non-freesat)

You can record in non-freesat mode but you have to start recording manually (no timers)

You can't use non-freesat and freesat at the same time.

If you go into non-freesat 16 mins or longer before a freesat recording is due then at 15 mins before the recording is due to start the box will issue a warning and if not responded to, will switch back to Freesat mode to make the recording.

If a recording is due within 15 mins and you switch to non-freesat the recording won't start until you manually switch back to Freesat mode

The box will only let you watch free to air channels and by default only searches for these so everything you found will be fta unless you specifically asked to look for encrypted channels
