HI, I am new to your forum but dont think anything will help with the problem I have had with my dvd recorder. I have had the DMR-EH50 for about 4 years with no problems until now. It hasnt been used that much recently but I triied to play a new dvd on christmas day and the dvd actually broke through the middle. Wether it was a fault with the disc or my recorder broke it I dont know. Anyway the recorder wont play anything now. I tried a disc yesterday and it got stuck in the drive and I couldnt get it out until I read something in the manual pressing two buttons together got it out eventually. Now discs go in and out freely but I keep getting message that it cant read the disc. I have tried all sorts and get the same message. I fear this excellent machine may be consigned to the dustbin. Would apprecaite any help.

Have you tried using a lens cleaner?

No I have not had to do any cleaning on machine since we bought it. Is this some sort of disc that you put in or do I need to open up box? If you think a disc will work then are they easy to get hold of - given the age of the machine?

have now tried a disc cleaner and couldnt get it to play. Actually had a job opening the disc tray again. Think it is going in to the bin if no one else comes up with anything. Thanks for your suggestion.

It might be the infamous power supply problem that afflicts some Panasonic machines
