HDR Operation at low(ish) temperatures
I seem to remember seeing a post from someone saying that their HDR had stopped working at around 9C odd.
My house got down to 6C over Christmas, and sure enough (as per last Christmas) I've come back to a locked-up box. Last Christmas I assumed it had packed up for a different reason, but I'm pretty sure now it's because of the cold. Anybody else seen something similar over Christmas? The manual states an operating temperature of 0ēC to +45ēC, but it's obviously lying if my findings are accurate! I would assume that the operating temperature wasn't plucked out of thin air though - Humax must have carried out testing at 0C....? |

This must be what happens when you try to minimise energy consumption in standby

I was away over Christmas and Boxing days and the temperature was down to 6 degrees by the time I got back. No missed recordings or lockups on the HDR.

Back when I worked as a computer technician schools, we called this "Monday Morning syndrome".
Many of the computers just wouldn't boot. We found the answer was to leave them running for ten minutes or so to warm the hard disk up, then reboot. Worked every time. Might be the same with PVRs as well. |
