Irish dancing is not always a damp squib.

First given a chance as the intermission act in Eurovision 1994, Michael Flatley, latterly of Lord of the Dance, Riverdance, Feet of Flames, and Celtic Tiger, earned a fortune of £400 million. Versatile Michael won the All-Ireland championship for Irish dance as well as flute solo, and filled in time as a trained amateur boxer. In a spare moment In 1989 he set a Guinness Book world record for dancing 28 taps per second....

He was dancing with one of the judges, Amanda Brunker, she had a few days of training with him, and then they performed live on the show, bit like an American Smooth. She did a good job.
